Not going to repeat what a lot of recent posts on here are saying - that thee is a lot of overreaction. But some calling for the managers head - well they need to look at themselves.

However, one thing that is noticeable is that some people on here almost seem to be enjoying the fact that we are struggling at the present time. Looking at who is saying such things are not just new fans who have joined the club since promotion but older members of this forum. I think that's sad and pathetic.

I can predict that we will not get relegated this season and finish higher than last season, that is progress.

Agreed and that’s what Pete Wilds remit was from the board when he took over so that would be Job done for this season

It's one of the repercussions of such a stellar start to the season, there are a lot of teams in league 2 that would love to swap league positions with us.

Bang on. Progress is key. Alot of overreacting on this forum and in certain parts of the ground. We'll be alright this year.

The forum isn’t representative of the majority of supporters. Just a few windbags sounding off (yes, me included). E.g Pedro (the most consistently negative poster on the forum - all doom and gloom, and his latest, after half a season, Pete Wild is a “nearly man”) Oh the fickle nature of the football fan.

I've had my views on the soccer since 1968 so not a Johnny come lately.
Followed them through the bad times and wondered where the other 7000 supporters went after the expulsion from the league.
No one is doubting how far we've come but when things go wrong it's not wrong to point them out .You work on errors but we keep making the same mistakes.
I want progress we have been missing a decent midfielder and another big forward for months.
It's about views but some on here will still think the Titanic was safe.
Not doubting g Pete Wilde commitment but his is still learning and it shows.
Not sure with the reluctance to play Bennett is due to tactical reasons or has he a hidden injury problem
Some here need to get to North Korea if they want a Great Leader to look at and not critise.
The reference to Pete Wild as the nearly man was tongue in cheek.

To a certain extent I have to agree with Pedro. If a record is broken you do not keep playing it.If things are going wrong it is not being negative to point them out.All people on this forum want our team to do well and succeed. We are in the early days of a new manager and it will take time to get things right.
Here is to a New Year win against Rochdale.

Agree with pretty much everything you say Pedro.

As far as PW is concerned he is definitely in a learning phase and as has been said previously he now has some time to learn in.

I was a bit sceptical about the contract extension coming as it did on the crest of an early wave. There was a lot of hype at the time and I think the board could’ve waited. At this level you are either hot or you’re not and I don’t think being that hot so quickly did him too many favours. The atmosphere around him has now cooled and this is probably for the best.

In terms of learning points well I’m no expert. However his greatest challenge may be one similar to that which faced Evatt. Namely that his preferred playing style is not that typical of the division as a whole and big, physical, mechanical sides that play less attractive football find ways of imposing their style and nullifying our threat. On occasion he is going to have to be able to set up the side to play ugly as sometimes expansive football can be a luxury. It does explain why we’ve had so few draws.

I think this has been evident in the Tyrell Warren situation where Warren has continued to be played beyond the point where performances would suggest this should continue. To me,Warren represents the type of system that PW wants to play and he seems happy to ignore the quality of performance even when it is clear that the player can’t deliver the level of quality required at this level. Again in my opinion this then creates doubt and weakness defensively and starts to affect the performances of Farman, Canavan and Brough.

It’s not about abandoning your core principles rather it’s more to do with adapting to situations.

It's the hope that kills you folks. Keep some perspective. I like Wilds enthusiasm and it shows he cares. Remember Cooper and it helps you to find balance. I'm not into booing our own lads and you can't knock their effort and what has been done so far this season. We'd have bitten your arm off to be in this position at start of season. Mid table awaits and that's OK with me.

I think Oldham sniffing around at the time was a big factor in the improved contract for Pete Wild.

Walneyblue wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:32 pm People need to get a grip here and see what has been achieved over the last few years and the improvements that Pete and his team have implemented this season. Yes there has been some poor performances and some players look tired but that’s what transfer windows are for to freshen the team up and make the squad have to fight for places. With regards to the swearing I don’t blame pete, when I have to listen to some of the comments the terrace guardiola’s come out with it blows my mind. We have come a long way from getting beat in front of 800 fans in non league and thinking that’s a good gate. Just enjoy the ride.
Exactly we are in our best position for what 60 odd yrs as our placing in the old D4 in the mid/late 60’s early 70’s was several yrs of bottom 6 dogfights until the fateful day, Give the Gaffer a fighting chance & remember that he is still finding his feet here & also in L2 so it’s a step up for him as well as us & let’s be honest here, if anyone offered you top 10 at Christmas you’d snap their hand off or equally if we started slowly but had better form now we’d be salivating over being top 10..it’s a rebuild & work in progress & we are improving & Pete was as frustrated as we were & is only human & passionate people tend the react to abuse.

Pete is the best we’ve had since Evatt & he may end up being the best we’ve ever had or you could damage the club by hounding him out & then we really would go backwards, Your call fans.

I think it’s great, just sitting back and reading what some idiots post. Some people are clueless and have to make a decision, either support the club through good and bad times or [SwearFilter] off.We are in a league I never thought I would see us play in,and if someone said to me at the start of the season, after half the campaign been played we would be sat in 9th place on 35 points I would have bit their hands of.Personally I believe we are a decent side, that have been unlucky of late, hopefully Wild gets us going again, pretty soon, but we do need height up front, everyone can see that but him, unfortunately.

Warren seems to be resident villain for some. He had a steep learning curve at the start of the season and has steadily improved.

Both he and Brough appear to have very forward roles and this seems to have been exploited via opponents who have found space behind one leading to angled crosses coming in with the other struggling to cover at the far post.

Out right hand side is a weakness as it was when we had Hutton. Warren has ability but he gets caught out of position too often IMO. Teams have noticed this and many of the goals against us come from that side and have done all season.
