Unbelievable.
The club saying in their tweet that they think the pitch is playable so clearly distancing themselves from the referees decision.

The club was still pushing ticket sales this morning and not once suggested that this game wasn’t going to be on. Very short notice so doesn't look good on the club no matter which way it gets told.

All the ref this one. Didn't fancy it from 12.30 when he finally showed up, despite being informed earlier of the conditions.

The pitch was playable at 1pm when I left. Barrow players and Salford staff all thought it was playable. All on the ref this one.

If the clubs media have any sense they’ll get a short video with Wild and Salfords gaffer both saying they thought it’s playable….

Statement from Barrow:

The Club can confirm we have approached PGMOL and the EFL for a written statement to enquire as to why the game has been postponed, and to make an official complaint.
The Club would like to apologise to both Barrow and Salford City fans who travelled for the fixture, please understand this decision was entirely out of the Club's hands and we were both confident and keen for the game to be played.

Shoite that it was called off via Lanzarote. I suppose that was due to the time difference.

I’ve never ever understood the reasoning to call a game off being left to one man. Surely a joint decision by the ref & the two clubs makes more sense. Let’s face it, half of the time the ref can’t even do his job properly during the game so why leave him with this sort of choice before it.
This will cost the club and smaller businesses a fortune.

I am sure that is how it used to be decided in the good old days.

It's probably all part of the modern obsession with risk aversion. Ref, EFL etc don't want to be held responsible if someone gets injured.

Either that, or the ref was on a promise for this evening.
