Has anyone else had any dealings with the club in the community recently?

I contacted the club via phone when the Everton game was announced to see if anything could be done to help as we wanted to try and bring a lot of our students to watch the game and create something educational from it - sport, science, maths linked. The club said they would get back to me - still nothing

I then emailed over a week ago to see if something had got lost anywhere and no response whatsoever. The club are missing a trick here. I think contacting local schools to try and see if they could bring some kids to the Everton game would be an opportunity to educate them academically but to also educate them on behaviours at football. They could have got a few hundred from the local schools easily.

At present there won't be anyone working F/T ( or even paid) as they are making the steps to be eligible for EFL funding.

It's a good idea and hope folk take it up.

Working full time or not, we gave several options to the club, that would have taken no time from anyone at the club - could some data be given to students afterwards to do some data analysis on the players stats from the tracking vests, could the education room be used for the students so the teachers could present something pre game about nutrition in sport, could they have given the opportunity for some students from each school to be involved in the walk out. All of these would have taken no/very little time but would give the players some support on the day.

I’m more disappointed that after 2 enquiries no one has even bothered to respond

I agree that's poor James. Even to say no we can't.

I'd guess the data analyst is in Barrow once a fortnight.But I guess they could...one for Friday.

The education room is offices these days, has been for a couple of years.

It sounds like a great idea, it's a shame no one at the club has picked this up. It would be good to raise this at the Q&A on Friday.

You mention students but then you mention local schools - how old are the students? The reason I ask is because there is currently a ban on under 15s (unless accompanied with an adult). However, I agree with you it would have been an opportunity for them to engage both academically and socially. Unfortunately our present BOD seem to believe that ALL under 15s wish to cause trouble at home games. And yes, I agree; the match could have attracted a few hundred youngsters, promoted the club and laid foundations for a future generation of Barrow AFC fans.

They have. tbf The thing with schools etc is you have to push and make it as easy as possible. You need to know who to talk to. And reply to stuff lol. I know of 50/60 hopefully going from one school.

They would be seniors coming from us but would be accompanied by teaching staff so wouldn’t be an issue. I’m just really disappointed there has been no engagement from the club at all and there is only a chance we are going to make it happen because we have managed to get in touch with a player directly.
