The only positives - Their striker was offside in the lead up to their first goal - and before they scored we actually looked reasonable.

I thought Elliot Newby also did well.

Other than that not much to write home about.

Highlighted the total lack of a defender on the bench. We have six defenders sat in the stand or at home.McClelland working his way back from injury,Feeley getting up to scratch after the gap from the Irish season, We also have Ellis and Grayson back from loan. Who knows what has happened to Zuk and Whenlock. Any defensive changes will now have to come from that batch as the window is almost shut.Keep the faith.

Im all ears for this. We have the personnel for a 442 and leave Warren and Brough in our own half, we saw tonight the gaps we left pushing to far forward. Totally exposed. At least with a 442 we might get some decent service in to Bennett.

Seriously though, if we're going to play over the top or crossing from wide anyway, why not have two in the mix? Someone playing off Bennett if we're going to play him. Someone like possibly Waters who is naturally a poacher or Gordon instead of fighting giants for high balls. Look at how Quigley and Angus worked together. Different time, different league, different players but you get the idea. Can still have the likes of Whitfield/Kay/Newby/stevens cutting in with the ball on the run as well.

Just my very amateur opinion. Whatever happens, THAT cannot happen again. That was a capitulation. Regardless of the system, the minimum you expect is effort and fight until the final whistle.

Temple came over at the end, fair enough with the fan’s frustration and actually cared along with Gordon and Foley. Matched them for 44 minutes but and a mistake and they went 1-0 up.
But then the second half, there’s no excuse for that, as a barrow fan from the non league days fair enough if a team are better than you and we are batting above our average. But to perform like that no heart, no pride in the badge that was embarrassing! Conor brown wasn’t a world beater but he showed heart and never let the club down, the amount of times Warren has conceded us goals now as laughable he is not good enough. Canavan clip balls in to the channel that never get near anyone, January window has gone now, how many players mauve out of contract protecting themselves? Not one player can come off that pitch and not be embarrassed, the fans make the effort on a Tuesday for a derby and what was that?

The dreamers can now stop dreaming of the play offs and we can try and play a brand of football that we can grind results from as I’m not sure Pete Wild really knows yet how he wants us to play or defend as a whole. We are in a position where we can experiment a little and try and build on that identity PW talks about. But we need to have the mentality as a whole going forward as a club too.

It’s a valid opinion. 442 has fallen out of favour in the modern game as but we have options for this line up. We desperately need to tighten up at the back as we get caught out of position too often and all over the place. Maybe a flat back four but not sure as it seems Brough is the only one who can put a half decent ball in from the left.

Agree 100% about the effort after the second goal went in and think everyone would agree with that.

At the QnA it was mentioned about retaining 75 % of the squad in the summer maybe even as low as 65 ish, wonder if a few heads have been turned as happened with Matty Platt who played woeful at the time when Mark copper said he’d signed a pre contract elsewhere.

Don't get it when we offer player's long contacts a lot of the player's getting stick tonight are here till summer 2024, we ve just signed and broken our transfer record on a player here till 2025, league 2 player's should be on 1 year contracts with extra year if they do well, like said tonight how many defenders sat in the Stands, we now have a massive squad to pay for you can't force player's out of the Club.

They played the Philips version just before 10. He was absolutely revelling in Barrow losing by such a margin!

league 2 player's should be on 1 year contracts with extra year if they do well

It was said that we were up against at least two other clubs and if they were offering him more money and/or a longer contract they would probably have got him. Also don't forget that it's agents who negotiate, not players.
