We are not a free scoring side, despite trying out all the attacking options we have put out there this season. His Halifax team that finished 4th in the Conf scored considerably less than other teams in the top half that season. Tactics or players?Methuselah wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:50 pm Wherever we end up this season, the board now owes Pete Wild for next season. It has been obvious for most of this season,we have not got a player who can dominate the box when a cross comes in.If it means spending money to bring such a player in,it will have to be done. There is no way that Pete Wild should be blamed for the under performance of the players, which was plainly obvious in the game against Harrogate. If we want our team to succeed the board within reason should enable Pete Wild to go out and get suitable players for next season, otherwise we as a club will end up on a downward spiral after such a refreshing change at the beginning of this season.Pete Wild has a five year plan,so give him the players to make that plan a success.Hopefully it will happen

Think about it fella, maybe those players didn't want to give up there contracts and see them out which they are entitled to do by the way. Do you know the meaning of mutual?Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 3:08 pmBoth only had few months left on their contract. If it's as easy as you make it sound why couldn't we got the contract of Ellis terminated at the start of this season or Mike Jones last season ?32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:18 pm
not necessarily, contracts can be terminated my mutual agreement as with Stevens and Brown recently show.

The board owe PW….that’s some statement considering the expense each and every owner (including the Trust) have already put in.Methuselah wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 2:50 pm Wherever we end up this season, the board now owes Pete Wild for next season.
Also, we’ve just paid a club record fee for a player, I doubt very much that was on the insistence of any of the owners, so that would be PW or the DoF asking for that player.
A very bizarre statement.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

By owe him, read that they owe him an explanation. If a manager is not kept in the loop,it can only breed mistrust.Yes the board has put money in,but when you listen to Pete Wild's interview he sounds shell-shocked as though he knew nothing about it until the deal was done.Things like that could ruin Pete Wild's commitment to Barrow and that is the last thing we want after a previous two seasons of turbulence.Hopefully in future they will realise their mistake and keep him in the loop.An agent who.has announced his intention to try to move one of our players on should not be able to blindside the manager by going straight to the board and if they do the board should involve the manager at the earliest opportunity.

I’m not saying PW was or wasn’t kept informed or whether he agreed or not to the sale, but your brain is working overtime on this.Methuselah wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:57 pm By owe him, read that they owe him an explanation.
As has been proven over and over again (Ian Evatt & many others) once a player or manager has been tapped up there isn’t much anyone can do about it. Do you keep an unhappy player who you are paying very good wages to to basically sulk for the next….however long.
It’s not good but it’s the way it is, remember, we did the same with Grant Holt without many complaints from us back then.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I tend to agree with you on that.but what I don,t want is for the great strides our club has made to come to.nothing and Pete Wild does seem committed to Barrow.I just hope his trust in the board hasn't been dented by this.

You’re making a lot of “Assumptions” here then taking about them as if they are factual when none of us know.Methuselah wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:57 pm By owe him, read that they owe him an explanation.

Thought there was also a director of football in the mix too. Maybe it was just an individuals decision.
