I have a feeling he was being sarcastic as the camera was pointing at the mounds of earth on the old Hoop Works site.

Problem is no matter how much money we throw at it it will never be an EFL ground, and it can’t be redeveloped properly as it’s too enclosed. I do understand why people are reluctant to take the plunge but in my view the current stadium is a millstone around our necks, whilst it’s true to say that a new ground could also be classed as a millstone but at least one day it will be paid off and we’re left with a new stadium.

HS will be a money pit forever.

One final thought, Barrow Council are spending their levelling up money; £17.5m to be exact on a new Market Hall, that would have been a large chunk of any new stadium cost and arguably a better use of it, and with available grants on top of that we wouldn’t have had to find too much more for a pretty decent stadium that’s fit for the 21st century!

However the decision to continue with piecemeal improvements has been made and I sincerely hope it’s works out, simply I can’t bare the thought of falling back into non league and into another 48 years oblivion.

Definitely being sarcastic but it didn't help the goals were all at that end. When the rezza is in the footage it looks a lot better.

Given the choice between a flagship redevelopment to create a new focus in a failing town centre for the benefit of all the townspeople and putting the money to support a location for a private company and it's customers...

It was 100% a sarcastic comment.
The ground looks awful on TV with the waste land behind and the Cross Bar building overlooking the pitch. It also looks like no one is there as you don’t see any stands when the goals go in at that end - just a few supporters stood around a garden gate!
It looks more Northern Counties than L2.

If we are to stay at Holker Street next 10/20 years need to try and buy the garage back and possibly land up to the soccer bar imho which would allow the crossbar end and popular side to be redeveloped and possibly pull the pitch down a bit to allow the Holker Street end to have a bigger stand but none of that would be cheap

Paul Carson always used to say the great thing about the ground was there was plenty of space around it to develop the stadium. He was right just think of all the space behind the Popular side ( there’s even a pond that could be filled in) and the football pitch behind the crossbar end.

Space isn’t a problem but finding the money to develop all that space is. If the garage which used to be the old Bluebird club ever became available that would be a great asset to buy but I’m sure the person that owns that will realise he’s in a great bargaining position.

Years ago Paul Carson talked about getting various plans drawn up for a new redeveloped stadium and letting the fans vote to decide which was the best option. I wonder what became of those plans ?

Building a new soulless stadium won't stop us falling into non league.

Plenty of room for development at Holker Street, as others have posted, also as mentioned the limiting factor is cash or lack off it. Could very easily be an 8,000 capacity stadium with changing rooms under a stand. Ideally would like to see the Popular Side and Steelworks end developed, obviously needs a multi millionaire or an existing fan to win hugely on the lotto. Other than that it is piecemeal development as and when we can afford it.

I think alot of new stadiums are soulless

It's not what the ground is like it's what we do on the pitch which is a credit to the groundsman.
When I go to Buenos Aires the Boca is like a 1960s ground but it has character.
