Barrow v Crawley Town match thread

I thought I went to the match today and we breezed through easily against very weak opposition.

But it was just my imagination running away with me . . . it must have been as I've just spotted a match stat that said Crawley had 60% possession . . . not the match that I was at . . . don't know where I was this afternoon then . . .

They had plenty of possession but it's not much use if you can't defend and you have no attacking threat. Very similar to our performance at Crewe where we also had plenty of possession.

They had to kick off five times during the game and their keeper had to pick the ball out of the net four times which all takes up time and would probably be classed as in possession not to mention the bad back their keeper must have he probably needs a visit to the chiropractor due to all the bending over.

I hope the guy who abused Wild and the rest of the Barrow coaches & team at Crewe thinks twice before he opens his mouth again. This team if far from perfect but they are the best Barrow team we have seen here for decades.

On the Crawley forum they're praising out commentary team saying how fair and unbiased they are !

And they're not wrong. We don't hear it so much now but when we only got the home commentaries on iFollow during the BCD season it showed how our commentary team and RC in general were a class above anyone else.

What a difference three days makes. Changes to the team were predictable and Feeley and McLelland are so much better than those they replaced - McLelland and Canavan were rock solid and never broke sweat all game. Midfield was better with Neal in there and pressed and won nearly everything, White full of running too. Up front Gordon was a handful as ever and deserved his hatrick. Not sure about Garner still but the goal may get him going, showed glimpses but also wasted the ball a few times too. Overall though looked a different team albeit against a very poor Crawley side. Full of energy and running and out wide got some good balls into the box. Should've been more than 1 at halftime but second half nice to see us be more ruthless.

Crawley look in big trouble on that showing, the number 7 who came on aside they looked very poor but kept going till the end to their credit.

Great result against one of the poorest teams in the league.
Glad Gordon got his goals he works so hard
We are going to finish alot higher than predicted by the pundits .

I think next season we need to address the weakness we have Mcelland who seems pivotal in this team may not be here.
We still need a big striker and at least one decent midfielder.
I am hoping Brough stays but I think he will be head hunted as I think he is one of the best players in the League.
Think Paul Farman has finally bedded in and will remain our first choice keeper

PW is a decent fella and bit naive when it comes to expect players to be loyal to him I.e Billy Waters cannot blame him for moving for more money just a question how long he will be on the payroll.

When you do that, some inevitably say that you should have done that anyway and you dont get that much credit for doing your job. But given that performance at Crewe the recovery is really pleasing. They keep picking up their performance after set backs. That is a really good habit going forward.

Just watched yesterdays game on I follow and was watching when Tyrel Warren came on as a substitute and immediately committed a foul with a clumsy challenge on a Crawley player going in with his foot raised resulting in a free kick.
Although Tyrel has made great strides in his play recently,that is one side of his game he needs to sort out as it often results in the opposition having a free strike on goal.With us playing Swindon on Saturday and he is in the starting line up we could end up getting punished early on in the game
I just hope that Pete Wild has a word with him and shows him the incident as reckless challenges like that could end up costing us the match.
