So if Casson 'got' the phone mast, surely it now belongs to the club as he sold the whole caboodle to the present owners, or are you saying he still owns that one thing. Seems unlikely and slightly bizarre!

The phone mast belongs to 3 or ee can’t remember which one not Barrow afc
They pay for its upkeep etc that’s why it always looked sparkling compared to the other 3 rust buckets which were condemned - and also why it’s still standing loud and proud

It was the only floodlight refurbished by the keens that's why it looks new. The costs were huge at the time. It was used as a mobile mast and The club received annual rent for it.
Along came Casson who sold it on to the mobile company. We no longer receive rent or own it.

It wasn’t refurbished,I’m fairly sure it was completely renewed at the cost of whichever phone company was involved. (It was way shorter than the other 3) it looked in better condition than the others as it was new

I often wonder why we don’t avail ourselves with the Football stadia improvement fund.

We could finally get rid of that horrible building at the steelworks end and extend the Wilkie Road stand so when watching our game highlights we won’t see the 6ft high weeds or the piles of mud from across the road.

You're right, MadPlumpy, that floodlight was new and it replaced the original that was installed back in 1963. When I say "new" I mean it replaced the 1963 one but whether it was a brand new one or second-hand I'm not 100% sure but I reckon it was brand new. It's only been standing there how long now . . . 12 years, 15 years maybe???

If possible buy the Bluebird Club put the changing rooms, bar and club shop in there add a tunnel to the pitch and then pull the crossbar down. Make the Steelworks end the away end, terrace only for now to take full advantage of the times there would be a big away following. If seating has to be provided for the away fans use the new west terrace stand. Corporate would be under the main grandstand.
This would maximise income with the least redevelopment and get us back to a four sided ground with the existing stand, all the Holker end and the Popular Side for home fans. The added advantage is getting rid of the screen for away fans which is awful.

+1 Reinstate the old Bluebird Club as the main bar & function room, demolish the Crossbar & make the ground 4 sided again, possibly for the away fans.

Think they said at a previous meeting you only get one “go” at the big funding and you have to match it, so you have to use it for a big project like a full new stand or it’s not worth it

Perhaps the main ground improvements so far have used that fund? The tall weeds and shrubs have gone (but it is spring...) and I would think the piles of hardcore will be used creating the housing estate infrastructure.

Speaking of Wrexham and expansion its interesting to note they have been granted a big chunk of a £25m 'levelling-up' fund from the Welsh Government designed to spruce up the surrounding area including the nearby railway station. Built into this is a new 5,000 seater stand at the end which has been empty and unused for several years. I believe this is a 50/50 grant but we all know they will have no problem providing the privately funded 50%.

We should set up some sort of Redevelopment fund where we the fans put in cash donations so it builds up so when we are ready we already have some of the funding saved…..Yes it might impact the Trusts & GMT fundraising efforts but surely getting the ground up to speed as quick as humanly possible seeing how the FA give you half for free.
