Nothing wrong with Adam’s post. Perhaps it’s the very early signing of Worrall that has fired up expectations but the reality is that apart from 6 EFL teams out of the 72 all the squads are now on the beach..

When Wrexham begin their inevitable process of distorting the transfer market we can all get off our sun beds. Meantime we do have a DoF who is paid to do things at this time of year such as making phone calls and talking to stray players.

I think we should give Adam some slack here. He’s been very brave to openly talk on Facebook about his battles with depression and I don’t think people having a go on here will help his situation.

I’m sure nothing untoward was meant by his comments.

Keep up the good work AJ, onwards and upwards to the new season.

This is why I went into Spoken journalism as opposed to written.

The problem with writing is the reader will perceive it how they want to.
There was no malice whatsoever intended in what I put.

No but dealing with football agents is something you would sort of expect a DoF to do, don’t you think?

This is turning into one of those wobbly off-kilter threads that occurs when there is nothing really much to say. It wasn’t initiated by Adam and Adam isn’t the subject of it. Wierd.

Genuine question - what are the duties of a DOF to merit such a lofty title?

Anyone know what Pete Wild is in the Dominican for?

Thinking maybe a holiday with his family but they have a good standard of football over there so could he be having a look at someone?

Holiday during half term.

Well-deserved, I would say.

Oi, listen up, mates! Gather 'round, 'cause I got a right tale for ya. So here's the scoop on our Barrow manager, Pete Wild. The bloke's gone and buggered off on a jolly ol' holiday to the Dominican Republic. 'E's lookin' to relax, enjoy a few rums, and scout out some local football talent for our beloved Barrow team. Proper dedication, that is!

Now, while Pete's doin' his thing in the Dominican Republic, we've got a bit of a situation with our three lads named Josh. We got Josh Kay, Josh Gordon, and Josh Lillis, all outta contract and runnin' the risk of jumpin' ship to some other club. But see, these three mates of ours, they've taken off to Margate for a right jolly boys' outing, 'cause they all share the same blessed name, Josh. Can you believe it?

So there they are, ridin' around on them donkeys, enjoyin' the seaside breeze, havin' a right laugh. They're hittin' up the arcades, tryin' their luck on them machines, and probably losin' a few quid along the way. And of course, no trip to Margate would be complete without a visit to the theme park. Dodgems, mate! They're zippin' around like proper lunatics, laughin' their arses off.

Just as they're gettin' ready for a pint or two and some bloomin' whelks, wouldn't ya know it, Pete Wild gives 'em a proper bell all the way from the Dominican Republic. Can you imagine the surprise on their faces? Here they are, on the dodgems, and their gaffer's callin' 'em up for a chat about new contracts. Cor blimey, talk about timing!

So Pete lays it all out for 'em. He tells 'em 'ow much he values 'em as players, 'ow they're an integral part of the Barrow squad, and 'ow he wants 'em to stay with the club. The three Joshes, they're proper chuffed, mate! They've always been loyal to Barrow, and to 'ear their manager sayin' 'e wants 'em back, well, that's just the bee's knees, innit?

Without missin' a beat, they shout over the dodgem music, "Pete, mate, you've got a deal! We'll sign them contracts faster than you can say 'apples and pears'!" They're over the moon, celebratin' with a few more spins on them dodgems and raisin' a glass to Barrow. Loyalty runs deep, my friend, and these three blokes are the real deal.

And so, as the sun sets on Margate, our three Joshes, well-fed on pints and whelks, have secured their future at Barrow. Pete Wild, sittin' on a beach in the Dominican Republic, raises his glass to his lads from afar. Cheers, mates, to Barrow and the bond of true mateship!
Cor Blimey

Adam, I have been away for a long-weekend so only getting back to this thread. In hindsight I was probably a bit quick off the mark with my reply and apologise profusely. As you intimate the spoken word and written word can say the same thing but be interpreted differently as is in this case. As I grew up in the 60's and 70's information from HS was readily available from friends and family, the Vickers 'bubble' (instigated usually by local players) and the NWEM when it was 'local'.Since leaving the town thirty odd years ago I have become more reliant on this forum and Radio Cumbria. Anyway I hope you can accept my apology as we are all after the same thing in the end. :scarf:
