Pre-season friendlies
Re: Pre-season friendlies
Some excellent friendlies this year, whoever managed to get them deserves some praise especially the Preston Friendly they were never keen to play us for some reason.

Only 1 ever competitive meeting between the sides 18/8/1971 North End won 2-0 seem to remember that there was a bit of how you say aggro on the way back to the station after the game
Re: Pre-season friendlies
I seem to remember a North End player by the name of Heppolette having a blinder that day.

Yes, remember the game and recall a lot of your support pouring in on the Popular Side a good while before kick off. It led to a cry of 'Charge' from the Holker End (think the lad sounding the battle cry was from York Street) and there was some serious interaction between the two sets of fans (lads aged from 16 - 20 years old). There was a rumour at the time that one of the PNE lads had lost sight in one eye as a consequence.
As was the case then, a lot of this stuff went unreported and rumours became established truths in some people's heads, including impressionable young teenagers like myself. I therefore absolutely bricked it when I was on a train to Manchester with my mam a short time afterwards and a large crew of Preston lads got on the train on their way to, I think, Oldham. I was convinced they would find out that I was a Barrow supporter and blame me for everything. Needless to say, it was an uncomfortable journey! Ah, memories.

A lad did lose an eye ,we were talking to some lads going to watch Utd away when a lad ( minus one eye) asked where we were from ( I knew about the Preston fighting) surprisingly he didn't have a go !

It would be nice if someone would update the fixtures on the official website. I had a look today to plan which ones I will be able to get to and the only fixtures on there are last season's friendly results.

Re: Pre-season friendlies
I've seen that asked before (possibly on twitter) and I'm sure the answer was that it is pay on the gate.
