Thanks Ann, I’ll try and find you at the game.

If anyone would like to donate a a few quid towards the flag (Jonty is getting a quote today off the company who produced the Kelly’s Hero’s flag) we will take cash or we have a new account number (the one above still works) that I can provide you with if you drop me a PM.

If we don’t receive enough to pay for the flag I’ll record who has donated and return the money to you.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Many thanks to a forum member who wishes to remain anon for a donation of £50 towards the cost of the flag.

Please remember, it doesn’t have to be a donation as big as this as twenty or thirty people donating £5 £10 £15 should get us over the line, then we’ll have a quality flag on display that can be seen from some distance away.

Thank you, is there somewhere I can find you at the next home game? If not I’m usually at the top of the stairs in the X Bar from 1:30 on match days

As this is going to be something that will be battered by the elements we really do need a top quality one.
Ian, you are a penny pinching treasurer of the GMV funds but on this one quality is essential otherwise we will be buying another one in a couple of years.
Whatever the short fall is on a decent one I will pay for it.

😂😂 I’d prefer to call it - being careful with funds, and I’m not a treasurer, I just keep the cash under my pillow 😁

Regarding the flag - Jonty is doing all the prep work with this and is speaking with the flag makers, he’s told them this isn’t just for taking around the country and draping over crush barriers but will be exposed to some high winds. He’s pretty thorough is that Jonty…he’ll get it right.

I’ve got the outline spec from Ian and should be able to update soon

Even a best quality flag will be constantly battered by the wind, the best way to increase its longevity is to raise and lower the flag on match days, when the team is ‘in residence’

In response to the above - we will be suggesting to the club that it should only be used on match days otherwise it would be destroyed in no time if it were on display all season.
We’ve spoken to several flag makers and are just weighing up the options - heavier double sided with an inner mesh but that affects how it flies, lighter single sided but not as durable or double sided without the inner mesh but possibly a bit of a problem with seeing two images in reverse.
We didn’t know picking a flag type could be so hard!

We’ve smashed our first target thanks to donations off here and from the GMV away travel group, but what we’re thinking is, if we get a few more £s in we’ll get one of each, that way in the future the club will know which is best value.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Nothing new here. It has traditionally always only been flown on match days as a way to signify there was a match being played.
The one that was put up temporarily has taken a battering already. Good job it wasn't flying today. 😲

Your next headache will be---who is going to hoist it every home game.😅
In the past it was always Mike Forsythe and the stewards job.

What we need Elaine is someone who is retired who lives really close to the ground 🤔
Full training will be given 😂
