Anyway, it’s probably best pushing the donations for the banner on its own thread Mark otherwise it’ll just get lost in GMV stuff.
You have already clearly explained the excess flag donations on here Ian and our fellow supporters amazing generosity.
I just flagged up the Tifo topic to raise awareness of the Tifo collection as obviously that needed funding too and I’m sure you would agree any publicity wherever that may be including endorsement from influential individuals like yourself is always welcome.😉

That’s fine Mark, I was only pointing out that your appeal might easily get lost in other stuff on here.

Influential…..I don’t even have influence in my own house, why do you think spend my spare time at the ground 😂

The flags have arrived (thanks for the hard work Jonty) hopefully - if these winds calm down one will be flying on Saturday.

For those that have said they’ll hand their donation over on Saturday, is there somewhere I can find you? Or if it’s easier I’ll be at the top of the stairs in the X Bar from about 1:30.

Many thanks all.

If anyone has any children that would like to meet and be in a photo with Pete Wild raising the new flag for the first time they are welcome to jump in, it’ll be happening between 1:00 & 1:15 today.

Anyone wishing to hand their donations over to us today can either do so at the above times or we’ll be at the top of the stairs in the X Bar from 1:30pm

Thanks to Pete W for making these young fans day as they hoisted the new flag on the new flagpole just before todays game, I’m sure they’ll remember it well. Ian Allington will post his far superior ones over the weekend 😁

Also many thanks to the five people who came up to me and texted me today wishing to make further donations, I told them all the target had been met but they all insisted that the money went into the kitty. Amazing gestures.

What a great guy Pete Wild is; can think of plenty recent managers who would have not even entertained the idea of doing this

Having failed to donate to the GMV through the link, due to its technical issues, I had to seek help from the Club desk at yesterday’s match to find someone from the volunteers to hand over my small contribution.
Instead of disrupting their afternoon, I’m thinking that why isn’t there a donation box placed in the Xbar, so that anyone can just put an odd £1 or two, or more.
I’m sure everyone here supports the great work the GMV are doing and it’s so easy to donate to them after buying a drink.
Just a thought. It might surprise a few how much you could get over a season.

I can just about remember back to the game before Doncaster. PW had been on an errand to the press box or control room around 2:15 and spent a fair amount of time engaging with fans on the Popular Side on his way back to the changing rooms.

Great to see.

Thanks for your donation & it was nice speaking to you….and never worry about disrupting our afternoon when cash is involved 😁

A huge thank you to one of the club’s sponsors (Cumbria Roofing) for helping us out today. The top pulley system wasn’t really up to the job of holding such a big flag and it was becoming increasingly difficult to raise & lower it so a new more robust pulley, shackle and end cap needed to be fitted….we didn’t fancy dropping the whole flagpole so Kevin (the boss at Cumbria Roofing) gave us a lift up on their cherry picker.
It was a tad windy and wobbly up there 😳……and an experience!!

Don't want to be too dramatic but with all the s**t going on in world atm the generosity, both financial and time related, shown by people really is heart-warming

It never ceases to amaze me how many hours are spent on the ground by the GMV. Keep up the good work folks.

We still have two or three promises of flag donations to collect (the flagpole flag). If you are at the game tomorrow we will be in the foyer area of the X Bar tomorrow from about 1:15 and then in around the ground during the game.

Many thanks.
