A lot of their squad on Saturday were new signings - he’s been manager since end of May and had a clear out following their relegation last season so very much his own team.

I’d say his interview on Saturday will have played a part in his downfall although you might suggest that he already knew the writing was on the wall when he spoke to bbc 3 counties after the game

Just listened to that post match. Sounded distraught. If they’d have seen it through like they should have done they would have leap frogged us and sat mid table. I don’t follow them so obviously there’s more to it but he’s only been there for a short while and they were hardly rock bottom. Who would be a football manager.

Alexander also won manager of the month in August after winning 12 points from a possible 15 at the start of the season

His strike might have looked more straightforward than Acquah's but I think there's a classy stroke of genius in what Whitfield did; having looked at it a few times it's the way he sorts his feet out with a little hop so that he can hit it first time as he did. Probably if he hadn't had the speed of thought to take that little hop he would have had to take more touches to sort his feet and get the ball under control and that might have meant the chance would have gone. We all know Ben missed a great chance to win it against Notts County last week but I'll definitely excuse that on lack of match sharpness after a long time out with injury. What a cracking footballer Ben Whitfield is.
Agree. Whitfield has been our best signing for years. Acquah is doing well and has the potential to become a great striker. One fine example of how signing a young prolific striker from the leagues below can pay dividends. We should stick to that policy - instead of signing Rejects from other clubs ie Garner and Telford.

Emile wasn’t prolific in the leagues below. You only have to watch Telford and you can see he’s not a donkey, he’ll come good. Garner gets a lot of stick and I don’t get why. If he’d of come on a free from fleetwood rather then this mystical club record fee no one would have a bad thing to say about him 👍

If you honestly don’t know why Garner gets stick, then you’re a fool, he’s clueless and doesn’t even look that he should be at this level. He’s had enough chances for me.

I have to agreee RE Garner. There is definitely a player in there. He works tirelessly off the ball and his link up play is good. He has never been prolific but what he offers in other areas gets him a start IMO.

You argue against yourself in the same post. What was Whitfield?........a reject - by your definition - from another (league) club!

No I don't - you miss my point - as usual. And I notice you've only included a segment of my post to clarify your own point of view.

I sang the praises of Whitfield. He's done well since arriving.

I suggested that Garner & Telford were Rejects on the basis that they've both done nothing since they arrived. And it's obvious both Fleetwood and Crawley knew something about those players that we don't. And please don't go down the route - like others on here have - of claiming they both have other attributes such as working tirelessly off the ball and having good link up play bla bla bla ...yeah, they may well have? But neither of them can hit the back of the net, can they? Google Garner's goal scoring history for previous clubs. Hardly prolific. To sign such a mediocre striker for a record fee is mind boggling! Telford had two decent seasons in the past. But he just can't score for us. And that's the ultimate objective of any striker. To score goals!
It isn't rocket science

The amount of possession we've had this season + the amount of goal scoring opportunities we've had this season - we should be top of this league. Guess why we're NOT?

Right, you salty dog, let's see where I think your logic is flawed. You are saying that Garner and Telford are other clubs' rejects because they haven't lived up to your expectations:
"...Garner & Telford were Rejects on the basis that they've both done nothing since they arrived" (even though Telford, in particular, was prolific in the most 2 recent seasons)
whereas Whitfield, who has, in your eyes, done well, is not considered to be another club's reject (even though he came to us in circumstances similar to the other 2)

You then say we should adopt a policy of signing young players from the leagues below (Acquah) in which case we'd have missed out on "our best signing in years" [your words], i.e. Whitfield. Then, in another thread, you argue we should be signing a "quality" striker in January. You never did give me an example of who that might be.

It seems to me you want players of quality but not if they come from another league club because they're rejects unless they play well in which case that's OK but if they don't they never were quality and were rejects! :? Confused? You will be. (For those with a long memory of the TV programme 'Soap')

Well it’s nice to see that someone reads every word of some of these posts if only to demolish what’s been written 😀

At the moment, Acquah is our best bet to get the goals. He’s raw but has physicality and a presence and he’s getting better. Who else? Strikers will ultimately be judged on how often they stick the thing in the net.
