Kelly’s Hero flag
The Kelly’s Heroes flag has eventually turned up….we couldn’t remember the exact design of it but we were hoping it was something that could have been altered into a decent BAFC flag for displaying at the back of the HSE. Unfortunately the design of it will mean it’ll be forever a Kelly’s Hero’s flag as what is on it takes up the whole flag area. So this is the question, is it something that people would want to see on display as part of our recent history (while also giving the HSE a splash of colour) or has that moment gone now?
If it doesn’t go on display it’s basically just a huge rag.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Kelly’s Hero flag
For me we should find somewhere to put it. It's a tribute to Rob Kelly who saved us in that first difficult covid season back in the EFL it is as much thank you to Rob himself. Plus as he's not in the best of health at present so we should let him know we are honouring him for his invaluable help to the club in the 2020/2021 season.
For me the moment should bee remembered.

I am really not keen because well meant or not, Rob Kelly hated that flag and we had a devil of a job getting it displayed more than one game!
Ryan if you ask him will confirm this. It took the negotiation skills of Kofi Annan to get it up at all.

TBF though Steve, he’s not here now and might never even know it’s up. I’m not sure what if cost but it seems a real shame for it to lie around rotting.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 6:13 pm I am really not keen because well meant or not, Rob Kelly hated that flag and we had a devil of a job getting it displayed more than one game!

If it doesn’t go up in the Holker Street End why not have it in the Fanzone?
The Fanzone for me is the best place as it was bought by the fans

It would a good sun shade sail in the warmer months in the fanzone. I think you can buy kits to convert.

Not for me.
He did a great job but the mess he extricated us from was a mess we shouldn’t have been in in the first place, rather than a great triumph like winning something, if that makes sense.
Rob Kelly knows he is held in high esteem - that’s enough, imvho.

Definitely a Yes from me.
Fanzone is ideal. Bought by the fans and displayed where the fans drink.
Maybe we can resurect the old wooden flag pole if it's in good enough condition. Safely stored under the main stand.
The original pole that stood on the old East Terrace.

Fanzone please. Good or bad, it's part of our history and should be remembered

Personally I think it would look good at the back of the fanzone.Without Rob Kelly there might have been no more Barrow in the Football League. We sholud also not forget Ray Wilkie for that magnificent Wembley triumph and last but not least Ian Evatt who got is there in the first place after so many years in the wilderness.

Defo get it on display get some colour and atmosphere in the place instead of bleak brick walls or bare metal at back of HS end. What’s the harm it illustrates a good period when Kelly did a great job for us and reminds us of recent history. What’s there now instead?
