James Chester

James Chester's contract is only till end December 2023, I hope the club are in conversation with him to extend his contract as he has been a vital part in our excellant start to the season in his defensive role.

When he first signed he said it would be short term at first till he found out if he was physically up to it (because of his injury problems) and Pete Wild agreed saying we`d have to monitor the situation !, so let`s see what happens !

Petes team all seem to enjoy each other’s company & playing together & they get looked after very well so I’d imagine it will come down to finances & if the lads motivated by money more than a happy working life, He shouldn’t be short of money after that career & we should have some financial wriggle room…IF…we win the cup tie, Just my thoughts

I think it comes down to if James Chester is enjoying his football here. Which by the looks of it he is.

He could probably go up a league and play the bottom end with nothing to play for and relegation. Or stay in a positive environment with a winning side on the verge of a good year.

He will sign

Apropos of absolutely nothing, has anyone noticed his physical similarity to Kieran Trippier?
Decent defenders both, but in different arenas.

He does seem happy, only reservation is the attention he will have had with his outstanding performances and the vultures might be circling!
Fingers crossed he stays and helps us going upwards and onwards!!

I think he is in our forum designated "legs have gone" age group, so probably not too many other clubs will want to take a punt. ;)

Looking at the fields along the 590, gonna need more than a punt.

Hope this gets nipped up soon!!

Clearly an integral part of our defence so far this season and to get it nailed on will no doubt help keep the ship settled. Let's hope we don't do what we did last year and slip a little through this next month or so.. fingers crossed chester will side with the good guys!!!

Over all Colchester haven’t had the best first third of the season, but I’d be happy with a point. Worst case scenario we lose, gills win, we are still in play off position come Tuesday night, against a very beatable Walsall at home.
