Hopefully at least 4,500 on Friday after that.

Good point all in all. Looked comfortable at 2 up but we probably all feared the worst at 2-2. They had a go for another 10 mins after their equaliser to push for the win but we held strong and came back in to the game well.

Their Madden is a very intelligent footballer , but by rule of law should he have been sent off?

Challinor saying BOTH our goals were offside. Sounds like this is what he was having a go at the ref about at half time (as Pete Wild alluded to). So no surprise then that the ref felt pressure to disallow our 3rd?

The highlights will be interesting

Challinor is a good manager but a first class bellend. I thought the game was a good advert for the league and draw was about right. They counldn't cope with our counterattacking first 35, then we struggled against their pace and power till last 10, where we came back.

Thanks for all the help with the display.

Their away support fine second half but have always been arrogant and 500 is shit. They know it too.

All in all... good day. But need to beat Accy now

Ref was extremely poor, it's no exaggeration to say I'd be surprised if over 50% of his calls were correct. Allowed himself to be swayed and influenced in all aspects of the game, and was noteworthy.

Stockport are clearly a very good side and you can see why they are top, but we matched them at the very least and I think they'll be fractionally happier at the result than ourselves.

If you'd have offered a 1-1 top of league two draw in front of nearly 6000 fans a decade ago when we were losing 6-0 to Gainsborough in front of 400 odd I'd have yanked your whole arm and half of your torso off, so hard to be disappointed, but these are special times and everyone from the board to the ultras to the first timers deserve to enjoy them.

I understand his qualities as an asset to his club but tend to think of him as a bit of a thug.

There's a chart online showing Martin Coy's games with each club. Barrow games are joint second highest yellow cards issued - 23 in 12 games. Carlisle games are also 23 but from 15 games and Lincoln games are top with 33 from 18 games.

All in all after time to reflect, a very decent day. Two very good teams, probably a fair result, though could have gone either way. Excellent crowd with a spectacular showing to start. The referee wasn’t up to the occasion though.

Funny as we see Wild in the same light, good manager but a giant man baby:lol: 577 ain't the greatest but I think we were only sent 650 tickets. I guess we were saving ourselves for Bradford on Friday where we'll have 2K there, I'm one of those who couldn't be arsed with travelling today after a heavy Christmas day & thought I'll do Bradford instead so opted to watch the stream & after our 1st half display I was quite content with my decision

Agreed mate, the ref had a shocker today.

With your perspective, you’ve got to be happy and proud of everything that’s happening at the club right now. We’re in a golden age for sure, and long may it continue!

High foot nearly took foleys nose off. 2nd yellow all day. Thought we were a little too nice when that happened. Players should been all over the ref. Same with the high foot at their spot. Too nice

Prior to kick off I said I’d be happy with a point, but after the great start, disappointed not to be coming out of that with all three points.

Officials - Friday at Crewe and today they wanted to make it all about them, both absolutely dire.

Pathetic really as I seem to remember them playing National League North against us not that long ago. Some offended we criticised those hardy 500 who braved the treacherous trek north to see the game. So much for packing out the away end, whinging on about restricted views etc etc. Ever been in the away end at Anfield? Happens at the very top clubs. How dare Barrow even mix it with the so called L2 big boys eh. They also assume we will run out of steam like the Halifax Wild teams did. We shall see. Lets see if loadofmoney Stockport run out of steam - now that would be embarrassing wouldn't it.
Any team wanting to take points off us, are never going to write anything positive, just don’t get why you’d read their forum, or what it brings to the table.
That's because I know a few of them down here in South Manchester who said Barrow are basically not relevant (or words to that effect) and so decided to visit their site after the game. There comments by them & those on their forum confirmed their arrogance & my feelings towards the club.

Just watched the extended highlights to see the disallowed 'goal' incident, but it wasn't shown. One earlier comment on this thread was that the ref had been told by the fourth official that there was a man down. Even so, if he had not blown the whistle before the ball went in, surely he can't disallow it? Likewise, if there was a foul in the box, why had he not blown for it (or perhaps he did and we didn't hear it)? Or did he just decide there was a foul because he saw a man on the floor?

Anyway, Mr Coy's performance was really poor for both sides. Whitfield's goal was offside I think (blame the assistant at that end) but the second one wasn't. Fouls were given on both sides for nothing, then more obvious fouls were not given (classic bit on the highhlights where Whitfield gets 'handed off' in the face, then the ball goes forward and our defender gets fouled twice but Coy just plays on and Farman has to save a shot.

I suppose the sad fact is that any good refs get promoted and end up in Championship or Premiership (Rebecca Welch looked very good when she reffed one of our cup games a couple of years ago), but the poor ones are left to the unfortunate clubs in EFL2 and 1.

Spences shot takes a deflection surely then this makes Whitfield onside as it was a deliberate attempt to stop the ball!
