Think people need a reality check.
We looked very tired but we have a small squad.
Look at the money Wrexham a d Stockport have spent.
We just have to keep plugging away ,still think we will get automatic promotion.

It came down to the reliable back three having an off-day against the best attacking team in the league. Three of their goals were preventable (four if you count White giving away a daft free-kick).

You’ll see what this is team is destined for at the end of January. Some deceptively tough games and some in the play off hunt. Let’s have a good go

Come on ,we had 2 tough games previous, Stockport was hard fought, and the conditions against Accrington will have taken it's toll ,our squad doesn't come close to Wrexhams so give them a bit of slack anyone who couldn't see this coming is living in dreamland we've done things none of us expected this Season NOW isn't the time to critise ,just be thankful were not Salford!
I don't particularly disagree with anything you say and I'm certainly grateful for the position we find ourselves. But there were 5 changes to the team that started Accrington and PW has regularly rotated so I don't accept they'd all taken a toll. The injury to one of those, Worrall, didn't help, of course. I'm not criticising the team nor individuals just saying that to beat Wrexham our approach would have needed to be different.
Do you not think we were more than in the game up until that mad first half injury time?. I thought we were playing it well. 4-1 it’s over and damage limitation.

If there was to be any movement in January I think it would be Duffus out on loan. Just not cut it at all.
A loan move back down to Yeovil wouldn't be a surprise
Hemel Hempstead I’ve heard

I do think that tactically we allowed them too much time and space. Our long ball tactic from Farman and others only works if you have someone to collect the ball and others with energy running off him. We defended well for almost 45 minutes in spite of being unable to keep possession. I can't decide whether Wrexham's first goal was quite well worked or a mistake by someone, but the second was a 'worldie' free kick. The third was a disgrace and I think that is what lost us any chance of saving the game. Very few teams could come back from going from 1-0 to 1-3 in 5 minutes. We looked as if we were at least trying to make a comeback for the first 10 minutes of the second half, then again were disrupted by Stephenson's injury and never got going again.

Lots of players looked jaded. The EFL needs to look at Christmas fixtures because teams should not have 4 games in 11 days (I say this for the benefit of every team, not just Barrow). Being a pessimist, it would not surprise me if we struggle again on saturday, but after that I am confident that we can settle to a game a week and regain our form.

I couldn’t agree more. Fans pay good money to see players play at there peak. It’s not possible having four games in 11 days. Fridays fixtures shouldn’t have happened there was no need for games on 29th imo

I know that ( the approach) but if you don't except that the player's will have been tired then you need to think about the tough games we've had over the last few weeks, on Friday there was some really bad tackles and
the conditions WILL have taken it's toll !
Our back 3 worked hard last Friday and if we'd had energy we might have got something BUT our back 3 are really slow and if we'd have tried to go at Wrexham it would have been a rout if you can't see this you and a few other's are totally deluded we are not a top team, we've played to our strengths but sometimes you have to except how things are!

The game hinged on a player that should have been sent off and those mad 4 minutes or so in first half injury time. We need to show resilience against a resurgent Tranmere on Saturday do the basics right for 90 mins in that game. Acquah & Telford also need to get scoring again. Plus we need a ref who is competent that might help as well.

Reality Check!

This could be something that we needed, with all the hype about our unbeaten record and our defense, sometimes complacency sneaks in and today I think that happened!
It was an awful pill to swallow but in the grand scheme of things, its just a knock which we have not had for many games/weeks or months even..

Games will slow down a little now, we have a chance to rest up, take stock and re start..

Only half way through and a long way to go, we will be ok..

Its been a tremendous year and a great season so far, we are still here, we are still in it...Keep the faith peeps.

Tomo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 5:07 pm As much as I like PW this defeat is down to his tactics, the only teams that have beaten Wrexham are the ones that go out to attack them, so what do we do? Just sit back and let them walk all over us, very poor 😢
Spot on re the way to beat Wrexham but we don't have the capability of attacking teams so PW can't do much about that. We rarely make 50% possession against even the poorest teams in the league.
The plan is to defend well and hope to get goals on the break. It's worked very well because we have 3 very good central defenders but it won't work against teams with skilful midfield and forward players if they continually attack even a good defence.
Even today, for most of the first half, we looked in control once we took the lead. Farman has had a great season but, IMO, he should have stopped the first 2 goals. The 3rd was, unusually, very bad marking from a corner and the 4th was a great header from a very good cross.
I've always thought that Stockport, Mansfield and Wrexham were odds on for the top 3 places.
If we finish in the play-offs it will have been a great season and we will have to play well to achieve that.
Even today, I thought there were some good performances. Canavan, as usual, was faultless, White never lost possession and Spence worked like a trojan.

The scoreline up to 45+3 would say we were but you just can't continually give players of their quality so much time and space. Eventually, they'll open you up. And they did. But we'll take it on the chin and move on to Tranmere.
Don't let the old man in.

Not far off the mark perhaps. Don’t think we are really slow at the back, but not lightning quick for sure.
We are solid there though (today not a good example), and against most L2 sides it’s enough.
Did get shown up a bit this afternoon, not just in defence, though for 45 minutes we looked quite controlled.
Playing to our strengths is for the management to identify how to do it, and for the players then to implement, but if the opposition are superior, anyone will come unstuck.
I hope today won’t disrupt us too much. The Tranmere game will be quite important if we have promotion/playoff aspirations
