4G pitches
Re: 4G pitches
Social and Sporting grants regularly ask for matched contributions too. We've started something with the charity football matches. I'm sure there plenty of more qualified and experienced people who can work around the grants and local government, private sectors. If anyone would be willing to help I'm sure Ste Gill and Craig Rutherford would welcome any assistance with open arms. This town is crying out for such a facility.

Re: 4G pitches
I live in a small (and I do mean small) village in Scotland but with an active football club that helps young people from around the area, including the nearby bigger town, develop as players. They have recently installed a floodlit 3g pitch (4g isn't necessarily better or required) but they had to do it themselves without help from local councils. They were the ones who applied for and got the grant funding from Scottish Football Partnership Trust, Clyde Windfarm Fund and SFA Grassroots Pitch and Facilities Fund. They've had to find some match funding but not a great deal.
I'd be surprised if there weren't similar funds in England but you won't get much help from councils to do it. I would have thought, though, that organisations in the northwest that have gone through the process would be more than happy to show off what they've achieved and how they went about it.

Don't let the old man in.

4G pitches to a good standard are about 700k+ just to start you out before maintenance and staff cost . that is a lot of charity football matches. Agree one is needed for the town but would need to be a town effort not an AFC solely that isn’t in our interests

Re: 4G pitches
Where I live the schools with 4g pitches operate like a business and staff evenings/weekends hiring out the 4g facilities and they are always in use.
I assume the demand either isn't there or understood for the college and academy to do the same.

Re: 4G pitches
Academy and college do rent them out to the local junior leagues......when they can staff them at a premium price too. The demand is here for a pitch especially over the winter months with the amount of games which get called off every year (which is getting worse year after year) We just don't have enough backing to get a facility built. Barrow AFC as u understand had plans for a full 4g pitch on ormsgill but that went down the pan. Hopefully see it happen one day.

Ouch, That much, Gulp.Rtw6095 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 4:31 amI just play the football match but I do know the 2 organisers of this event have been pushing for a pitch in the local area for a number of years to no avail. It's amazing how little response you get from Barrow Council and BAE once you start asking for money. This town should be booming. Unfortunately alot of that boom is heading straight back down the A590 on a Friday afternoon.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 10:47 am
Wouldn’t it be an ideal time for the town for various Government & local councils & the Private Sector ie BAE & other companies, Various social & sporting grants including BAFC & BRLFC to together take over & revamp if possible or build a few pitches with more than adequate security, Then all could benefit going forwards.
The cost of a full size 4G pitch is a MILLION and possibly more. That's before you staff it and maintenance.
