If it keeps us in the playoffs, we can keep the ‘little old Barrow’ mentality. We might be pushing above our weight in terms of finances etc, but who actually cares? I remember going to watch Barrow when I was 14 and watching us getting battered 6-0 by Gainsborough Trinity. Being where we are is tremendous and we need to go for it. Back the team, back Pete Wild, and go for it!

First, Cole Stockton is the type or player we need for this system, strong hold up play and intelligent use of the ball, secondly hope we've got at least £500,000 price tag on Kian Spence, once again another really important player in our system!

Fans need to remember we are Barrow ? WTF it's that mentality again we shoukd be thankful of getting a point because we are who we are. We are 4th in the league with one of the best away records in the league- why shouldn't fans be disappointed when we can't hold onto a lead.

Sounded to me like sheer frustration by being asked to many negative questions on balance, Of course you can ask negative questions but it’s all about context isn’t it, glass half empty viewpoint when it could be half full, & I fully agree with him, focus on the positives as we are enjoying the best of times atm so bloody enjoy them while your in the moment, Worry about tomorrow ….Tomorrow!!

I imagine Pete probably is a bit frustrated at some of the fans criticism tbh and is probably trying to reset expectations. We're 4th in league two regardless of results the last few weeks this should be party time for us yet there's still people in the fan base trying to be negative. The man's working miracles, these really are the glory years

Nailed it, Why people loose sight of the reality is odd to me, Their negativity must be caused by how we landed at 4th ie recent results dipping a little, Afterall if we had just won 5 on the bounce to get to 4th the euphoria would be off the charts….We are still FORTH FFS,

Question would you NOT celebrate automatic promotion if we lost the last few games & dropped from 2nd but still got Promoted, You’d still be buzzing right so look at it the same way, We are flying as a club so bloody well ENJOY IT

I don't think he was being asked negative questions and in a way it was a perfect interview from Adam, you pay devils advocate in a way and jackpot pete delivered.

I thought his response was way over the top, some will say passionate but sounded to me like he was losing his cool. The point I'm making if you go to these clubs with the mindset that they are a bigger and better club with bigger resources then it makes harder psychologically to win.

His lack of control of his temper has already seen him sat in the stands this year a few times.

Bit of a pointless question for me that stoked wild. We all share the same feelings this year of how well we are doing. That is the overall opinion of the fanbase. I’ve not seen many if any commenting on losing leads. No need for me

Emotive and bullish words from Pete Wild for me, nothing more.
He’s up for it, the players are up for it and I know the vast majority of supporters are up for it. Where we end up we end up but one thing for sure it won’t be for the lack of effort and determination which we have showed in bucket loads for the most part of the season already. There will be plenty of highs and lows in the remaining seventeen games but let’s battle together all the way.

I never get the arguments over the “little old Barrow” tag….we aren’t a big club compared to many at this level, that is a fact. We have neither the fan base of most of these clubs, the resources or the stadium. That’s not me being negative, it’s a fact. One more thing, I never see anyone else apart from some on here bring that “little old Barrow” line up.

Onto yesterday’s game, I’m happy with a point, we were saying as much before the game and I haven’t changed my mind since. I thought Ray was very very good, Spence was once again very impressive and Stockton looks to be the striker we’ve been after since our return to the FL. Not too sure about sitting back letting Notts have so much possession, that’s a dangerous game, with more luck (on their part) and a mistake or two on ours they could’ve put three or four past us.

Fourth….just amazing!

Second half they were always going to come at us. Nothing was sticking up top from Farman’s long kicks and so much was coming back through McGoldrick who I thought was their key man. He seemed to be everywhere.
Let’s not take away from us though- a solid performance and we restricted them to very little despite all the possession. End of the day it’s a tough game chalked off against a promotion rival who never gained any ground on us.

Stockton looked good first half and hope we can get 90 mins out of him soon.

From the Notts forum, Very frustrating game against anti-football opponents and a dreadful Ref. Regarding the Stephenson yellow card if that tackle isn't a red card,the laws are a joke. No attempt to play the ball and should always be a sending off. don't you love it when we upset these big clubs and fans.

Football is awash with what ifs buts and maybe’s, so we haven’t got the infrastructure, so we haven’t got the stadium there’s lots of teams in our league that have all this and more. What they don’t possess is TEAM SPIRIT and this is the stuff that win’s titles. Barrow AFC have this in abundance and as others have said let’s enjoy every second of it, once Barrow AFC always Barrow AFC.

Burton and Yeovil have both played in the Championship- Stevenage could be playing there next season, I wouldn’t say any of those are BIG clubs. For the record who is it that has reportedly said they’re unhappy with our recent form ?

I've been saying for ages Ian. We let the opposition have the ball every game, regardless of whether we are playing the top or bottom teams. Their centre haves just to look up and there is no one within the A 590 anywhere near them. Every manager and player from other teams know this. PW NEVER changes, and insists on not changing. We have very good forward players with pace. But they are all running around chasing the ball, closing down etc. They must get knackered. This is not a criticism in any way, it's just me getting nervous every game we do this.Just one thing, the two " wing " backs STOP the crosses The last 4 goals have come from them. But, the way PW sets his team up as somehow got us to where we are and IT'S UNBELIEVABLE. It's going to be a roller coaster of emotions for a few months. But in the right way for a change in our history.

Any team looking at being promoted should be able to hold onto a lead. Like Saturday, I think we've had goals scored against us just before half-time, in the past - Wrexham knocked in 3 with time added on. Our concentration and the need to focus must be attended to.

On a positive note I think Stockton played well. Doesn't seem frightened to have a crack from outside the box. He reminds me of previous strikers such as Andy Cook and Scott Quigley. Looking for some exciting times from this lad...

Our on loan striker missed a penalty for Morecambe on Saturday so I think PW did a sound bit of business obtaining Stockton.

We struggle to hold leads because, as said in a couple of earlier posts, we allow the opposition to have the ball. Even a good defence - and our back 3 is very good at this level - will struggle to keep clean sheets when defending their own penalty area for most of the match Saturday was a prime example. I think we had just over 20% possession and we rarely have 50% possession even against the poorest teams in the league. It was very noticeable to me that most of our chances in the first 10 or 15 minutes came from catching Notts County defenders (a very slow group) in possession in their own half when we actually seemed to press them high. As soon as we got a lead, the pressing stopped and we retreated into our own half and let them pass the ball around without any sort of challenge. They were then able to get the ball to their wide men who were the big danger and the crosses came in with regularity.
You don't need to know much about football to realise that County are a team with a very good attack and a very bad defence. The goals for and against tell you in black and white. Any team should know County are a team whose defenders should be pressed. They are slow and try intricate passing which they are not capable of when pressed!
