FA Cup replays
FA Cup replays are scrapped from next season starting at the First round proper. Not a good move for lower league sides like ourselves IMO. The Ipswich replay we had has been one of our highlights since getting back into the league .IMO.

Re: FA Cup replays
Again it helps the big clubs but the poorer non-League and Lower EFL clubs suffer again. The FA say it will improve the competition. How and for who? It's a joke and it stinks.

Re: FA Cup replays
"The changes come as part of a new six-year agreement between the Football Association (FA) and the Premier League."
What a surprise!
It looked like good news that the all-midweek 5th round games would be moved back to a weekend but, no, now the fourth round will be spread from Friday to Wednesday. FA lies down rolls over and says 'Here, tickle my tummy'.

Don't let the old man in.

Will say it's all about player wellbeing I.e workload. Whilst also agreeing to play more champions league games and bring in new European competitions

It's been nibbled away at each year. Sadly it will be scrapped eventually.

Re: FA Cup replays
Went down hill when Utd were given a bye to the 4th round so the could play a exhibition match, the semi's at Wembley and matches played whenever Sky dictated.
Re: FA Cup replays
Totally agree about the semis at Wembley... thats again the FA making money.Cromwell58 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:27 pm Went down hill when Utd were given a bye to the 4th round so the could play a exhibition match, the semi's at Wembley and matches played whenever Sky dictated.
United never got a bye.... they never even featured. Darlington who had been knocked out in an earlier round were given United's 3rd round place . The F.A. more or less forced the clubs hand in having to go and play. They performed very badly and embarrassed themselves.
Regarding the removal of replays it's a disgrace and helps the bigger clubs and takes away the big money replays from the lower league teams.
The Premier league , especially the top 6-8 clubs have no interest in the likes of us in league 2. They can't even agree on how much money they should begrudgingly give us out of the record fortune off TV rights.

If that's the case then they should let lower league clubs with a home tie switch it to a away tie like they used to do, if they desire.

Re: FA Cup replays
Such a shame cos the fa cup this year has been very good to watch and some of the last few rounds of games have seemed like it had some of the old fa cup buzz about it!
Still have fond memories of the fa cup as a kid and the excitement it brought to any football mad kid.. any piece of grass was found and used to play out the final with ya mates, jumpers as goals and a 5 hr game of footy...
Oh I hate being old...

Re: FA Cup replays
They’ll try and put a positive spin on it when really they’ve done this becuase of European competition restructure. Don’t forget there is an a hierarchy operating within the PL.
Smaller clubs hanging on for a replay and a chance to get to play at a big ground with a big crowd was part of the excitement of the cup. It’s devalued now and way down the priority list of the elite (so called big 6).

"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

The FA require the Semi Finals to be at Wembley as they are still paying the for the reconstruction of Wembley that was completed in 2007/2008
