Mansfield, All to play for.

Post by 32mile_cul-de-sac » Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:47 am

A win sees us in the playoffs simple as that. Can the lads get over the line? I don't know but its going to be one hell of a game and with Mansfield sold out I cant see why we cant get over 5,000 fans in for this one.

Agree let's get last night out of our minds and fill the ground lot of frustration about we all care and desperate to see us get over the line in what is one of the biggest games in our history. :scarf: :scarf: :skill:

shame it is the last game of the season and a huge away crowd as could have done with this lot on their holidays.
Having seen us at mansfield earlier in the season where we were not in this rut and how much we struggled I have little hope unforunately

BA Stand almost sold out and Evalast stand has sold more than normal at this time of the week. Hospitality has been sold out for months. I would say that anyone that wants to go needs to get their ticket sooner rather than later if you don't want to miss out on our biggest game for years, and a chance to go to Wembley if we get to the play-off final. Don't forget that's on May 19th, 34 years to the day from our first visit to the national stadium (albeit a different Wembley!).

Not sure about this one. Mansfield are a decent team and will have a massive following. The Stags are already promoted and will be relaxed. Our players will be under significant pressure. To come back from no wins from six and be asked to beat a newly promoted team with a large away following is a near impossible hurdle to cross. Every mistake our players make will be jeered by the Mansfield fans. Maybe even some of our own? It's a big ask!

I just hope the players of Mansfield are thinking more about their beach holidays than winning the game :D

Listening to Nigel Cloughs statement after promotion he did say that they are in no mood to take their foot off the gas,so I expect this to be a difficult match.Having said that we have players that are capable of scoring, whether or not they do we will see.I just hope they do for all the loyal supporters who have followed this team all over the place.Keep the Faith

The players have shown over the season that they are capable of beating anyone in this league if they play to their best ...and avoid foolish lapses in concentration . You could also see it in the eyes and reactions of the players when they equalized against Bradford how much a win would mean to them . So we have ability and desire in the squad ... and although we cannot rely on the Mansfield players being 'on the beach' with nothing left to play for ...it may happen ...but actually it doesn't depend on them at all ...whatever team they put out ...and whatever their state of mind ... Our supporters will outnumber theirs ... and we need as many positive and encouraging comments as possible before, during and even after the game to help build the players confidence ...and get us over the line and into the playoffs ... at which point , of course, anything could happen . We know if we win, we will be in the mix . Come on guys ...let's get wholeheartedly behind the team ...and I feel sure that they have the collective ability ...and determination , to give it their all to pull off what would be a remarkable achievement for Barrow ...the club and the town. It's a team effort ... players and supporters together.
First match : Barrow v Northampton Town : Sat. 24th Sept. 1960 ... won 1-0... ( which was nice )

Mansfield have the aim of finishing as runners-up, so they will be up for it, but if we are on the button we will get that play-off place.

It’s pretty hard to believe it’s come down to the last game, given it’s turned out we only needed 3 more points over these last 6 or 7 games that we’ve struggled to pick up anything from to have already been guaranteed a playoff spot. However now probably being the outsiders to get get in them, if we can do it on Saturday then suddenly the mindset will change. The pressure will come off and the team can hopefully just get back to what we were doing before Christmas and in March and if they do that then on our day we can beat anyone over a game or 2. It’s a fresh start in the playoffs and that’s how it needs to be viewed. No in form, out of form, momentum [SwearFilter] comes into it. They are one off games. Yes we’ve still got to get what’s needed on Saturday and that isn’t going to be easy (although there’s nothing to say a point won’t be enough) but I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if we somehow sneak in there now, that we at least got to Wembley. We definitely have nothing to lose now because firstly as it stands we aren’t expected to even get in them at all now and secondly we will definitely be the outsiders to go up even if we do. The pressure needs to be lifted off the players now because an underdog can be a dangerous animal! Hopefully at 5pm on Saturday it will be more Barrovian bedlam! 🙏

The players will be up for it, the crowd will be up for it. A bit of fire in the belly and get it done. :scarf:
