Yeah as long as he's correct or he could get himself in trouble if he mis interprets some facts !, it works both ways but sometimes it's better to make simple statements rather than great detail!behind the goals wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:00 am Good to have jeff1966 with all the inside information the Club will have to be very careful now when releasing statements because jeff1966 will be straight on to it if facts aren't true the forum will be the place to be for Club news before the Club releases any keep it coming

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
I rarely post on the forum but wanted to raise a point that does’nt seem to have been mentioned so far. There’s been plenty of talk about his coaching experience but equally, if not more important, will be his man management skills. A manager in any walk of life has to be able to get the best out of those in his charge. No amount of experience, badges etc will compensate for a lack of motivational abilities. Clemence comes across as a nice guy in interviews (don’t they all?) but how will he perform behind the closed door of a dressing room or out on the training pitch and away from our ears. I’m certainly not prejudging him but we all know that nice guys at the highest level don’t automatically become good managers (Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore for example). I’m not expecting a ruthless Alex Ferguson type of character but, as we know, with the mix of characters in a team there will be some who respond best to an encouraging arm around the shoulder and there will be those who will respond better to the hairdryer treatment. Not sure if there is any truth in the whisper that Pete Wild was reluctant to have a go at the senior players but was ok to roast the younger ones. Does’nt matter now but that sort of situation creates an immediate division in the squad and the rot quickly sets in. I’m an optimist by nature and looking forward to a new era at Barrow. I wish Stephen Clemence well and hope that he is a great fit for us.

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
Good points there PG, One hell of a thing is team dynamics where bottom of the table rabble can beat top of table elite. Team mentality is everything no doubt in my mind it cost us a chance of promotion. This is where any coach or manager earns his crust (man management). Today’s leaders require the full gambit of skills to achieve aims that and a massive slice of luck where everyone and everything clicks and we’ll be right. So like you all the best Steve we’re right behind you.Papa G wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:15 am I rarely post on the forum but wanted to raise a point that does’nt seem to have been mentioned so far. Why do you blindly accept as 'true' what this poster says? Has the club ever released statements in which the facts aren't true?behind the goals wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:00 am Good to have jeff1966 with all the inside information the Club will have to be very careful now when releasing statements because jeff1966 will be straight on to it if facts aren't true the forum will be the place to be for Club news before the Club releases any keep it coming

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
I don't think Pete Wild was any great motivatior. He spent the last few months of the season telling the fans we need to know who we are. If he had that attitude in the changing rooms its no wonder we crumbled so much. If someone like Paul Cox had come in from Christmas onwards we would be in league one. PW peaked early Paul Cox always peaked late.Papa G wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:15 am I rarely post on the forum but wanted to raise a point that does’nt seem to have been mentioned so far. Good luck to the new guy. As PH said it that super interview with Adam this is a good time to be a Barrow fan and they will back the manager. I'm excited.

Ha do you understand what a paragraph is ? It's not me you should be laughing at ,it's the blatantly obvious fact of what they have said BUT you'd have understood that, wouldn't you ?

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
Just watched SC’s and PH’s interviews and on the whole I’m satisfied with what they said. Hornby always comes across well and we are lucky to have him and the other board members at the helm.
I think SC is a good fit for us, he seems keen to take on the challenge, he didn’t have to be convinced to come here and he wanted the job from the off.
I’d rather have him a young former top level professional with lots of contacts than a veteran lower league journey man manager stuck in his ways. It isn’t a risk free appointment as has been mentioned before but a decent one under the circumstances.
Looking forward to who comes in player wise now.

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
Probably because he said with certainty before anybody else on here or the club that Wild was on his way and that Clemence was coming. That's 2 from 2 so I'll believe he has the inside track until he proves otherwise by posting something that turns out to be false.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 1:04 pmWhy do you blindly accept as 'true' what this poster says? Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
Quite pleased with team appointment of Clemence. Seems to have his head screwed on and no real red flags. Wild surpassed my expectations and got the boot because he didn't get us over the line when he'd done so well to get us into that position. I hope Clemence can continue the rise of Barrow AFC. Wild was a huge part of that improvement and I think Clemence will get us there. Amazing how our expectations have changed after last years run. Good luck Stephen.Hope it all works out.

Re: Welcome Steve Clemence
It was the implication that the club issued/might issue statements which aren't factually correct that I thought unreasonable and that we should rely on it being 'fact-checked'. But we're still waiting for Sam Finley to be announced as our first signing so 2/3.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 6:30 pmProbably because he said with certainty before anybody else on here or the club that Wild was on his way and that Clemence was coming.
