Unless we find a half-decent striker in January, bottom half at best.

You mean like Cole Stockton? We were brilliant after he came in weren't we?russell_anderson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:08 am Unless we find a half-decent striker in January, bottom half at best.

Re: Where do we expect us to finish?
I wouldn’t be so sure about 10 better teams. I have just watched various extended highlights on YouTube and the quality of football in most EFL2 matches this weekend was very poor. Cheltenham v Swindon was laughably bad at times, but if you have time, watch Chesterfield v Notts County, two supposedly top teams in this league. Some moments of quality to be sure, but also some really poor decision making and passing - if that was Barrow, this forum wouldn’t be happy.JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 4:34 pm Don't see the justification for playoffs as an expectation.
I think there's a good 10 teams I'd expect us to finish behind.
Top half would be lovely.
We play Notts County next week - I am sure SC and his team will have seen how they try to play it out from the back and how often it went wrong - a high press and we will score from that. Everyone thinks they can be Man City, but you need quality for that and even then City mess it up.
People on here are too pessimistic - just imagine how Gillingham fans are feeling after their recent run. On the other hand who would have expected Grimsby to have the good run they have had since we beat them. And what about Port Vale, who we beat twice in August, with Darren Moore being slated by fans? Now top.
Once we get our injured players back we will click - so 3rd for me!

No, I don't mean someone like Stockton. He's about as slow as the ones we have at the moment. I mean one with some pace who might trouble a defence on the break when we have less possession as we always have away from home. However, at least Stockton could finish which puts him ahead of our current group!Matty wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:48 pmYou mean like Cole Stockton? Agree very much on the quality of the league, haven’t seen us play one really good team yet. If we can keep the majority of the first choice 11 (including Dallas up front for a run of games imho) for a large part of the rest of the season think we’ll be in and around that play off picture again

Where we finish will depend upon how many games Niall Canavan is fit to play in.

Hard to say going by the last 5 league games so hopefully at least 22nd.

Lol... I know what you mean but we can't get bogged down and feeling like this!behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 3:14 pm Hard to say going by the last 5 league games so hopefully at least 22nd.
Perhaps clemmence must now show something that he perhaps hasn't yet and that's backbone!
A bloody good bollocking and some passion and whip the lads into gear?
We are a good side, we played against 12 men today, but we must be more selfish in front of goal!!
We will finish top half, we just need to start believing and that means the players!!!

Without Farman and Canavan two leaders in the team we look low on confidence. They offer stability and leadership both on the pitch and in the dressing room. No coincidence our poor run of results has coincided with those two missingSayitagainSam wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 3:45 pmDefence isn't the problem.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:24 pm Where we finish will depend upon how many games Niall Canavan is fit to play in.

Lack of leaders silly as it sounds but yeh, you are probably right!
