When was the last time we got a pen?

Don't think we've had one since last season, Notts county at home last season in October was the last time we had a penalty.

The fact that Accrington have won 3 matches in a row proves just shows the level of this league. The fact that we completely dominated the match and created next to nothing just shows the level of our attacking players. We have absolutely nothing up front in terms of pace or skill whether it be through the middle or out wide. Jackson is our most creative attacker as he's a full-back! Our most likely scorers are Vassell, Canavan (when fit) and Eccleston from Jackson's corners. Garner, Telford, Dallas and Kouyate give the team absolutely nothing with Newby and Acquah giving not much more.

However, we were robbed today with a definite goal disallowed and a certain penalty not given BUT even those chances were given to us by a woeful Accrington team and not created by our forwards!

Not much wrong with our defence as the goals against proves and will be even better when Canavan returns. Stokes has been a decent deputy but is no Canavan and not much wrong with our midfield either but nothing from up front or wide.

We will soon be re-named as Barrow Nil!!

Yep- good post. Clemence faced with his first test. Yes missing Farman / Canavan as they are leaders on the pitch but the real problem area is at the other end.

Tough test indeed.. great when your winning but now is the real rest of character. It will come good for sure, it's just disheartening when we don't win when we feel like we should BUT we have to earn the right to be winners and doing it by winning.

The thing that impressed me during our great start was that players were not afraid to shoot from anywhere when we got near the penalty area.
Now it seems all they want to do is pass.
Come on lads, if you don't shoot (have an attempt on target) you won't score.
Let's see plenty of shots on Tuesday.

Second time seeing you this season, I also saw you against Grimsby a few weeks ago.

Chalk and cheese really. I know it's a small sample size of two games, but I actually think you look better without the majority of possession and then countering? You'd clearly done your research against Grimsby and knew who to target and who to press. You allowed Grimsby all of the ball and then Spence was excellent preventing their out ball option getting in positions, to receive the ball, and then you just let their LB get the ball and pressed him whilst he did his impression of an apple crumble.

Thought the 4-1-2-1-2 was a strange one today. You really struggled to progress the ball up from your own third of the pitch, and had to rely on Stanway kicking long and then hoping you'd win the second ball in Accrington's half so you could then build from there. On the second balls you regained you had some nice quick intricate passing (but lacked good runs in the box from your strikers) The lack of width really killed you when building up. Jackson on the left looked to come inside all the time when on the ball and back to the CBs, Feely was very apprehensive of getting forward until Stanway gave him a rocket up the arse about 30 minutes in. But still, Feely and Jackson look very much like full backs to me needing wingers in front, and not the ball carriers you need in that formation. Shoutout to Jacksons set pieces btw, brilliant deliveries from either foot. Corners looked like the only way you were scoring today and you came close on a couple of occasions.

Gotts had been gotten after about 50 minutes and was blowing and had a lot to do by himself whenever he got the ball. I'd also never seen Dallas play before and i was surprised to see him make it out for the second half. As impressive as Spence looked (once again), everytime I see him play I just want to pass him some soap and tell him to have a bath (it was the same at Halifax).

I was on the side of the Acquah/Keeper incident. You can feel very very hard done by. Keeper has gone into Acquah and dropped the ball. Your dugout was going mad and rightly so. Same to the ref when going in at HT.

I still think you're a good side after watching today, goals from your strikers does seem an issue and I'd be surprised to see you go out in that formation again. Deffo a difference in confidence for some of your players compared to a few weeks ago. Will hopefully get to watch you again at some point this season, would love to see you go up.

Always good to get an honest and balanced opinion from a neutral.

Think your right, it surely must be a confidence thing? Since Chelsea, we just don't seem the same.. as nice as it was, it's had a detrimental effect which we are now paying the price for.

I'm sure we will come good again, we are not a bad team by any stretch and it's just the goal scoring where we are shy currently.

Thought Dallas did ol, looked more hungrier than aqua but despite who's up front, I think hesitation from our supply is a factor too.

I’m not disagreeing with you! he’s started with a narrow line up without Newby / Kouyate / Worrel (injured) / Popov on the flanks which is where most of our creativity and supply comes from.

Got to politely disagree with your opinion there I thought our support today mirrored the attackers. They were there alright but you could be forgiven for thinking they weren't. Don't think in all my years going I've ever been in such a large, and largely anonymous crowd. Not blaming them and fair play for travelling in such numbers but there definitely comes a time when the happenings on the pitch effect the atmosphere off it. It's just not happening is it. Blame the ref, formations, injuries, whatever. If you don't shoot you can't score.
