Positive thread

Post by FanzoneFan » Sat Nov 02, 2024 11:38 pm

Just positive comments on this thread please. I’ll start.

1. We’re only one point off the play offs.
2. Just five points from an automatic spot.
3. Last season our average gate was 3,800, the best in years, this season it’s 3,650 and we’ve still got some of the bigger away followings to come to Holker Street, Carlisle, Bradford, Chesterfield etc.
4. Our injury situation is improving.
5. The pitch looks great.
6. We can still earn an extra £10k by beating Aston Villa U21s in the EFL Trophy.
7. We’ve still to play the final of last season’s Lancashire Cup.
8. And probably most importantly, our boiler is still working, thanks Mr Casson, and must be one of the best in the Football League.

Observed a fair bit of smoke just outside the boiler room 10 mins before kick off today. Just saying like.

Did hospitality yesterday and fair play to the club
At £40 for yesterdays game great value. Get some mates together and give it a whirl. The club have got this bang on.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Russ’s raffle still took a good amount despite the lower crowd

Barrow actually have the best defensive record, having conceded the least goals per game in league 2. (.78 goals a game)
Only conceded 11 in 14 games.
AFC Wimbledon have conceded 9 but only played 11. (.82 goals per game)
Problem is we have only scored 15 with 14 other teams having scored more.

Could be a stats project for a student - are regular supporters more likely to support the raffle? Date available, hypotheses to test, conclusions to be drawn, academic glory to attain.

It was positive to see our strongest right hand side Eccleston-Mahoney, hopefully a good break from Feely-Newby until injuries/suspensions kick in.

Tesco's Cafe are a hugely under-rated breakfast Uber Eats Choice

At least you weren't watching Aberdeen get eviscerated at Hampden...

Top of the league Port Vale's top two leading scorers Stockley (4) and Chislett (3) have only scored 1 more goal than our leading two Garner and Vassell with 3 each.
They have though had 10 other player contributing with a further 16 goals compared to 8 of our players only scoring 9.
So while it helps, a team doesn't necessarily need a 20+ a season goalscorer, just more from others on the pitch.

And 4 of those came in one match.

We could do with Telford helping the forwards out and chipping in with the occasional goal.
