Telford has played for 8 clubs and other than a season at Newport has never scored more than a few goals for any of them. He had one stellar season at Newport and did nothing of note before or since.

Personally I think a more astute manager/coach would've come up with a game plan to secure at least a point to be brutally honest.
I for one, (and don't get me wrong I'm not blaming the lad solely for today's defeat) am yet to be convinced Kouyate is a football league player. We've signed, then loaned a few out in recent seasons to let them gain experience and this lad I think would benefit greatly from it. It'd certainly be sink or swim time for him. There's some ability there but he desperately needs experience at a lower level.
I therefore couldn't believe Clemence put him on in place of Dallas. What was he thinking? It won't ultimately decide either of their fates with the club but bizarre decisions such as this do count towards the end result.
He's got to get a grip of this current situation Clemence and quickly. I've stated before and I'll say it again Newby and Gotts should not start together in the same team. Besides being too lightweight they're becoming far too predictable.
It's high time the entire playing and coaching started earning their money and show a bit of basic Barrovian spirit on the pitch. We've had players over the years with far less ability but ten times as much desire and it's abundantly clear to us all who these current shirkers are. They will not be forgiven nor warmly welcomed back once we do get shod of them.

The form table is grim viewing, how long do they wait?

Was there yesterday and have got to say there was nothing between the sides. Very unlucky with Dallas's Toe-poke hitting the post and to keep the divisions highest scorers down to 1 and very few real chances was impressive defenceivly, what wasn't impressive was leaving Kouyate to mark there CH at the corner, the senior players, Canavan, Vassel, Stokes should be taking on that responsibility. Poor.

Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
Chesterfield have two forwards in the ELF2 top ten scorers - McNally & Grigg. So l wonder if their Paddy Madden is surplus to requirements and may be approachable in January? Fanciful l know but desperate times call for desperate measures. The lack of goals dilemma is not made any easier by noting that erstwhile bluebird Andy Cook is the league's top gun.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
My worry is the drop in form of campbell and the picking of the likes of kirk and newby who are garbage has clemence got favourites cos he's not picking his team on ability or form
Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
Sorry elliot i meant to say mahoney
Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
The big worry is that even with Farman and Canavan back from injury, our fortunes haven’t changed. Forget the rest bar Spence, if we’re pinning our hopes on Acquah and Garner reviving us then we’re in trouble. Mahoney was billed as a key player to improve us once he got fit but that hasn’t happened. Kirk was probably without a club for a reason it seems until we got him, Campbell is on his own in there really at the minute and missing a 38yr old Foley who is still our most effective midfielder…
Gotts, Newby are the same as last season they produce the odd moment but not consistently enough and are just too lightweight.
The midfield don’t create enough and the widemen have been poor, add to that powder puff forwards who don’t hold or press enough, and a mental weakness and lack of character in conceding so many late goals and it’s a worrying time.
January can’t come quick enough but it’s not an easy time to really recruit, past January windows haven’t been that fruitful. Get it wrong again we’re in big trouble.

We have played well the last few games but some times you do not get the run of the green, agree we need a forward and that's our Christmas wish as for the defence Canavan back will sort that out but might take a couple more matches. Talk of the manager is not fair as most of the players were inherited let us see where we are at the end of January.

I agree except Stokes wasn't on the pitch when the goal was scored.ossickbluebird wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 8:35 am Was there yesterday and have got to say there was nothing between the sides. Most teams that go up from this league have the majority of their team as big powerful athletes and then they bring in the more technical players in the league above. We do get bullied a lot, lot of lightweight playersCromwell58 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:05 am We have played well the last few games but some times you do not get the run of the green, agree we need a forward and that's our Christmas wish as for the defence Canavan back will sort that out but might take a couple more matches. I think Elvis summed it up . . .
"We can't go on together with deficient 9's, and we can't build our dreams on deficient 9's"
Mind you, he should have added something about the faulty supply-line as well.
(Frivolity I know, but frivolity to mask my despair . . . )
(As an aside - - - Wintergreen, apologies for delay but I have now replied at last . . . )

Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
It’s all rather worrying at the moment, but what’s just as worrying & baffling is from early on (even last season) we knew goals were going to be hard to come by but the defence was solid. That’s not the case now, even that saving grace has disappeared.
Substitutions were strange, perhaps SC is now at a loss with what to do with what he has available but one thing he can’t be blamed for are mistakes by individuals at crucial moments - and yesterdays by Kirk (I think it was him) to leave a player totally unmarked from an incoming corner is unforgivable.
Every team we now play will be totally switched on to our weaknesses…..especially as the game nears an end, & that will be in our own players heads as well.
As for the injured players, I’m not sure how Garner & Aquah managed to get injured in the first place, they don’t put in tackles, they don’t break into a sweat & make zero effort….the ref must touch the ball more than the pair of them.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Chesterfield v Barrow, match thread
Dallas was injured yesterday hence he was subbed. He picked up a knock in the first half. Grimes looked slow and Clemence thought process might have been that Telford has no pace but perhaps Kayote could trouble him with his pace.spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 12:13 pm It’s all rather worrying at the moment, but what’s just as worrying & baffling is from early on (even last season) we knew goals were going to be hard to come by but the defence was solid. Garner has been carrying an injury for a while but playing through it and managing it. It's got to a stage where that's not now possible. Aquah picked up a knee injury at Accrington and was subbed. You don't need to be putting in a tackle to pick up a knee injury.
