That’s the one. David is now at Alfreton. A front line of him and Richie Bennett was quite scary at the time but sadly the current lot aren’t much if any better.

Kouyate: played centre forward at times with Everton (which Clemence will have known, if not some forum users) but has been used as a winger at Barrow so far. Noting the lack of success from others, it was surely worth giving him a spell up front yesterday.

Defence: Taking the Chelsea game as a watershed, we conceded an average of 0.43 goals per L2 game (7 games). Since (10 games), an average of 1.50 goals per L2 game . Overall, 0.94/game (5th best in league). What has changed?

Centre forward in an u18 league against your own age is completely different to centre forward in league 2 against experienced winners. Imagine if we had an experienced striker he could’ve brought on

I think it’s agreed we require a decent striker who will score.
Also a decent centre midfielder who can create chances and control the game.
The Chelsea game proved lucrative so our board are in a better position than before.
Who are we by now looking at? Cole Stockton doesn’t appear to play much at Salford? A very decent proven striker who could be a possible?

Stockton can't get a regular slot in a team below us in the league and a team which has scored fewer than us. Why would he be the answer?

He played well for us on loan and scored. Better than what have I think. Only suggestion what is yours?

The formation we play is the best fit for the players we have when all available- we got the season off to a flyer and what we are seeing right now is a really impacted team, with Spence, Aquah and Garner all out then that limits options, throw in losing Canavan and Farman who are still building up match fitness then have no doubt it’s had a big impact on form.
If he tried 4312 then we lose width and without Newby / Mahoney / (Kouyate) then balls coming in from wide positions would be even less and besides, Spence/Garner are not available to play in an advanced roles behind a front two,
….think we gonna have to ride this out up front alternating between Dallas / Telford / Kouyate / Popov until we get Aquah : Garner back. We are under strength but we have to keep supporting them through this tricky prolonged spell. It’s all good when winning but we will get back on track.

Ok, regards the negativity. Where at the minute within the team and performances is there any reason for optimism?? The fact is even with the injuries, we have had enough leads in games to be sat comfortably in the playoff places if not better but we aren’t. Now the goals have dried up and we can’t see out 90 mins (plus injury time) without conceding! We have more injuries and a tough run of fixtures to come so it’s pretty hard not to be negative right now! I’m not saying we can’t or won’t pick up points in these next few games but on paper, anyone would be struggling to see where are they actually going to come from?? It keeps getting mentioned that we haven’t taken a hammering but at the moment there’s more chance of that coming than us hammering someone and if that does happen in these next few games how badly is that going to impact in the team even more than the current situation from a ‘mental’ perspective! We must pick up at least a couple of wins from these next 4 or 5 games or we really will be looking over our shoulders but then it will be someone else trying to pick us up again because Clemence will not be here!

There is room for optimism. The board gave have got the club in the best position ever. Financially stable and we have been and still are doing well.
Clemence has been here only 5 months and needs to be given time.
5 trialists playing today tells me the club are well aware our recent on field results and are preparing to address them.
If we are relegation threatened with 10 games to go then we need to look at a change of manager but not before
