Re: Paul Hornby MBE
Very well deserved
Re: Paul Hornby MBE
I really don't believe in the honours system when you see. bums like Hutton,Woodcock and no doubt Scrogham rewarded it further erodes the meaning
It's nice to see Southgate rewarded for failure
Hopefully these awards will be less political and this may be the start.
Paul chooses to help rather than walk on the other side of the road.
It speaks volumes for his upbringing and how he has values.
Congratulations and thanks for all you do for the less well off and Barrow AFC..

Re: Paul Hornby MBE
Neither Hutton or Woodcock were given anything from the honours system like Paul Hornby has. They were given the title of Lord by prime ministers which is a completely separate thing and requires them fulfill a function In the House of Lords

Re: Paul Hornby MBE
People have been getting awards for services to charity etc for years under different governments. It’s nothing new.
Unfortunately people in these awards and previously have been given awards for doing very well paid jobs which they enjoy, and have given nothing back to society.
I am not against awards but give them to people who’ve done some good along the way, like Mr. Hornby.
Congratulations Mr. Chairman.

Congrats Paul-well deserved.

Alot of Lords sign in and go and just collect the £360 tax free allowance after having their subsidized breakfast.

Re: Paul Hornby MBE
Quite correct .VSEL had to nominate someone a few years ago and it was a case of who wants it like a lucky dip.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 8:44 amPeople have been getting awards for services to charity etc for years under different governments. It’s nothing new.

But well-done to Paul Hornby and to his parents raising a decent human being

Re: Paul Hornby MBE
Wouldn't it be nice for once if we could keep the political point scoring and allegations about VSEL out of this thread and simply congratulate Paul Hornby as a worthy recipient.

I said it's good you received it for the work you do and he said no it came via VSEL.

Re: Paul Hornby MBE
So VSEL no doubt put his name forward for the charity work he did. To receive an award you have to be nominated, not win a lucky dip.
