Top dollar you must be joking. Top dollar is what Carlisle are paying Charlie Wyke 7k a week for starters that's £364k a year. Be lucky if our top paid player is on half that.

You can’t judge Whing whilst he’s got this squad

First half was genuinely the best we’ve played against Carlisle since we got promoted imho; but when we didn’t score you could see what was coming and as soon as it did you knew that was game over. That last twenty minutes was honestly as bad as it gets, you’d think we were down to 10 men, could barely even kick the ball into their half. Easy with hindsight obviously but 25 minutes to go I’d have had Acquah and Smith off for Pressley and Newby and gone back to Whitfield and Spence off Pressley with two proper wing backs, the shape wasn’t working so you’ve got to change it, just changing Pressley for Acquah (and far too late) did nowt

Today was a poor game with Carlisle wanting it more. We had chances to get something but could not score
I don’t think l Carlisle wanted it more- they got the goal that was difference in the game. The last half hour was as poor a game of football ive seen. Both sides.

Totally agree not his squad. And you could say wasn’t Clemence’s either. Wood must be under pressure to do some decent business this summer but for the rest of the season how many players are actually offering anything outside Newby and Campbell and the 11 he started with

I think we’ll just about limp over the line this season but (post Wild) there has been no progress on the pitch in any areas. Next season we’ll see a whole lot of changes but right now I can’t see any glimmer that there’s a pattern there that we can build on

The same person who does the research into the players - Wood. Trouble is the Board thinks the sun shines out of his arse and were duped into upgrading his status by a supposed interest from Carlisle!

Pity they didn’t let him go there - assuming it was genuine interest - because if he stays after a clear out of most of his ‘wonderful’ players he will get in another lot who are equally inept.

A depressingly predictable scoreline given our past record of poor results playing bottom teams and local teams at home, especially when we have a large crowd. Like in many of those defeats, we appear too nervy and disjointed in our approach as if expectations were weighing too heavily on the players’ shoulders. This was made worse by a series of decisions which hampered the flow, played into Carlisle’s hands, and frustrated both the Barrow players and crowd. When we did get near the goal, we failed to hit the target through good defensive blocks or poor decision making. Those shots which were on target were comfortably dealt with by Breeze who was probably man of the match. We didn’t take our many chances, and Carlisle took one of only two shots on target, the other punched away by Farman.

We have now gifted Carlisle 6 of their measly 26 points over 33 games so at least we have played our part to keep our Cumbrian neighbours in the league! They now sit level with Morecambe at the foot of the table, breathing down the neck of Tranmere Rovers. Although 11 points below us, we may now have kick-started their season again.

We started well with the vociferous crowd behind the team. The visitors made up 940 of the 4,213 attendance.

In the 10th minute an Acquah cross was cleared for a corner. Two minutes later, following a foul on Smith, a Jackson free kick resulted in a shot from inside the area by Cameron which went just over. Spence then had a shot saved following a good run from Acquah. Barrow were all over Carlisle at this stage and it seemed only a matter of time before we would take the lead.

Suddenly, against the run of play, Carlisle hit us on the break running straight through the Barrow defence. With their first shot on goal, Dennis fired past Farman for the lead in the 19th minute..

From this point, the Carlisle crowd gained impressively in volume and the Barrow crowd went quiet. The momentum switched and Carlisle played more confident flowing football. We started to struggle to string together passes and half-chances were spurned by poor shooting. This was not helped by a number of decisions which favoured Carlisle's spoiling tactics.

Spence fired wide from a free kick in the 27th minute and then Foley required a head bandage after an elbow from goal scorer Dennis which went unpunished. In the 33rd minute, Acquah headed well wide from close range following a Jackson corner.

Cameron was then carded for a foul on Dennis. In the 41st minute, Jackson blasted a free kick well over.

Another bad foul on a Barrow player, this time Whitfield, also went unpunished again in the third minute of added time.

The crowd hoped for better things in the second half but it was more of the same and, if anything, Carlisle improved with some good interplay.

Things might have been different had anyone been there to meet Acquah’s precision goal-line cross six minutes into the second period. A goal would have lifted the crowd but frustration continued.

The industrious Gotts, who earned Barrow’s man of the match, saw a good shot blocked in the 58th minute. Four minutes later, a Foley shot was deflected for a corner.

In the 65th minute, Wearne replaced Embleton for Carlisle.

Five minutes later, Breeze just managed to reclaim a free free kick from Jackson after he initially spilled the ball. The impressive Breeze then also saved from Smith and Acquah.

In the 77th minute, Acquah was replaced by Pressley as Carlisle made two changes, Vela and Patching coming on for Whelan and Guy.

In the 81st minute, Canavan was booked for a foul on Scott resulting in a free kick from 20 yards which was cleared.

Newby then came on for Spence with just over 5 minutes of normal time, and 8 of added time, to play.

Dennis was finally carded in the 87th minute as he prevented Farman from taking a free kick. Breeze then made a fine save from Williams as it was not to be Barrow’s night.

Another double change for Carlisle in the 89th minute as Dennis and Harris were replaced by Bevan and Ellis.

Carlisle saw the added time out well, even though Davies was carded for time-wasting. In the 6th minute of added time, there was a final annoyance for Barrow as a clearly fouled Jackson brought no free kick but seconds later a Barrow foul on Bevan did.

They weren’t; he’s been great for us, but yes since he came back from injury this time he has been poor and it looks like age is catching up with him. Doesn’t help with Vassell injured who helps cover with his pace, and having to play Kyle Cameron who is bobbins

Remember Doncaster last year?
Bottom then nearly getting promoted.
We are their flip side this year. Top then crashing down the league.
Seriously after the last two games I can’t see how we will even limp over the line.
Wouldn’t surprise me if it was us and Tranmere dropping through the trap door

If had bothered to listen to Andy Whings interview with Adam you will have heard explain how the recruitment team works Joe Harvey is an integral part as is the management team and Iain Wood. When a player is identified they ALL have to agree as to whether he will improve us and is the right fit for the club. If one person in the recruitment team does not want the player they don’t pursue them and Whing is part of the recruitment team
This which hunt aimed at Iain wood is becoming very tiresome and boring imo Let’s see some of those complaint at the meet the board and manage a week on Friday. I won’t hold my breath at anyone showing up to criticise him like they have on here

Never mind why or who recruited these players Whing's paid to make decisions. His decisions tonight were as bad as Jackson's with the ball .. terrible. No tactical nous whatsoever. Should've rung the changes at half time and shouidn't have started Acquah who may well be a decent bloke but I don't think is football league standard, as I've stated before and again that's putting it politely. His first touch of the ball should've put Whitfield in. Instead he put it out for the games first goal-kick. Enough said about the lad. As for the rest, guess what lads keep crossing the ball at height into the 6 yard box and that giant in yellow will keep catching it. Brain-dead execution from start to finish of an ill thought out game plan. We're plummeting, clueless on and off the pitch and it's worrying for this as well as next season.
