I've mentioned this before, this is what's going to hold us back, there must be at least 100,000 population within 12mls of barrow and we get around 3000 home fans, am afraid that's not enough to progress this club. In my humble opinion we should be getting around the 4000 mark ,
Your time in the non-league wilderness hasn't helped you on that front. Perhaps a prolonged stay in the EFL will help get those crowds up. The likes of Harrogate, Salford, Morecambe and Fleetwood have less potential than Barrow IMO.
Have to agree with what you just said.Barrow has like you said spent many years in the football wilderness. When football grants were being handed out we as a club arrived late to the party and have a lot of catching up to do.
We also came back in just as Covid started so were faced with reduced crowds or non at all.Add to this that most young people had never seen a local team in the Football League so ended up following Premier League teams.
As a result we had to start from a much lower start point than a lot of other clubs. We need to find a way of bringing more income into the club by either increasing our local support, finding a new person who is able to add to.our two current owners with extra financial backing or maybe even building a hotel which would be owned by the club to generate a continuous income stream .
All these things will take time so as long as we can stay in the EFL and slowly progress improving things as we go.along.
Hopefully if everything works out Barrow AFC will.then be around for may years to come. Here,s hoping.
