Barrows population is around 65000 , but as I said if you include towns within about 12mls then that increases to about 100,000 .

I'll tell you what Tomo, and I think I've mentioned it before but I would really like to know ( I know its impossible) just how many from Barrow actually make the effort to go to Holker Street. What I am saying is that I know lots of people from Ulverston in particular, Dalton and Askam and elsewhere that go to home games.

And it's worth pointing out that after Carlisle's plummet from the old first division they eventually entered the old fourth division (the equivalent of today's league two) which saw them attract a low of 2,236 in season 1987-88 with a high of 4,740 in season 1989-90, the season we first went to Wembley.
So I would say that given Carlisle and districts larger population over Barrow, we ain't doing too bad really attendance wise though obviously I would love it to be higher!

If only he’d shown that sort of emotion to his players instead of sitting down for most of the game! Is it a coincidence that we played as bad as we have all season - if not worse?

Our crowds plummeted during the 80s, but that was common across the football league. Around 84/85 we were barely scraping 5k in the second tier. Our crowds have been good on the whole for the last three years or so, but I don't think we've ever quite figured out the formula to maximise on our considerable catchment area.
