Possible to play off position
Re: Possible to play off position
What a difference a week makes,Truro city, currently on 70 points, if they get promoted from national league south, looks a longer distance than Dover for any Northern based teams.

440 miles, 7 hours 10 minutes each way
Obviously a Tuesday night in November game
Best set off now, @Tallow and friends....

Re: Possible to play off position
To be fair, we would still take more to Truro on a Tuesday than you would take to Harrogate on a Saturday.tommy2thumbs wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:30 am440 miles, 7 hours 10 minutes each way

But Carlisle is a BIG city, whereas Barrow is a tiny hamlet at the end of the A590....

Re: Possible to play off position
In fairness to this question, whilst mathematically possible, the players should be giving every ounce of effort to at least try.
Wether we make the playoffs or not, I would expect us to at least give it our best and see where we end up?
Debatable if we are ready or not to go up down left or right but surely no point even playing if that isn't your target?
Regarding points needed based on previous seasons, this season the league is unique in that the pack is actually tight, no runaway teams and everyone is beating anyone so again, with over 30.pts to play for, let's just give it our all and keep making improvements and progress

We have absolutely no pressure on us now so we may as well go for it, see where it takes us and it will be a good watch to boot.

Re: Possible to play off position
This forum sometimes has the demeanour and consistency of somebody on crystal meth.
Win a couple of games and the fantasists line up with the promotion charge. Lose at Morecambe and the killing crew will take over demanding Whing’s head.
It’s only a few days since a pretty well balanced Q&A session in which the dangers of over-reaching ourselves financially were articulated along with the point that we are still very much in the process of stabilising ourselves in the EFL.
It’s been a very messy season and in many ways a disappointing one. Are we in great shape for a promotion push even if it were possible? Get real guys.

Absolutely agree. Both on and off the field we are no position for a promotion push. Folks got giddy last season when were In a play off position. I wasn’t to sure myself and listening to the owners last week confirmed to me we are miles off it yet.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 10:11 am This forum sometimes has the demeanour and consistency of somebody on crystal meth.

Re: Possible to play off position
Please stop this pathetic Topic discussion. We have been utterly shite, for months, clowns on here wanting every player gotten rid of, now the same clowns talking about the play offs.Lets just be glad we are not in Carlisle or Morecambes situation.

I totally get what you are saying and what the club has stated but my question is this.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 10:19 amAbsolutely agree. What is the point in playing football in a league where the end goal is to finish top or as high as you possibly can?
No matter what level you play, from the minute you kick off on the opening fixture is to win as many as you can.

Got to agree with SB and MSST We are surviving on the good will and philanthropy of a few individuals. Our top priority would seem to be further investment with stability and consolidation joint second.
But the nature of the beast does concoct a conundrum: Yes we want to win every game; no we don't want to go up!

Re: Possible to play off position
My point was until it's mathematically impossible, why shouldn't the team be trying to get as many points as possible and if by some miracle we made playoffs then great. Fact is, surely any fan would want the team winning as many as possible??Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 10:11 am This forum sometimes has the demeanour and consistency of somebody on crystal meth.

Re: Possible to play off position
Given our current ownership model for which we are indebted to winning enough games to avoid relegation is success imo. Until we get new investment I’m happy with that and listening to the q&a last week the current owners appear comfortable financing the club to do just thatWintergreen wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 10:41 am Got to agree with SB and MSST We are surviving on the good will and philanthropy of a few individuals.
