If you read the Up the Saddlers forum after yesterday, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Walsall were as likely to beat Barrow next week as they would be to conquer Real Madrid.

Palpable fear. Funny old game.

Just read it again - most of them are still pessimistic, so I hope they are correct! Several expect an easy Barrow win. Interesting to see their comments on the drive from the M6 to Barrow being stunning (until you get to Barrow itself…). I always think the same when I go back, I love that drive, with views of the Lakes and Morecambe Bay, but try to go the “old” way, down Abbey Road, rather than Park Road.

Lose against us and automatics are probably gone and I can’t see them showing signs of recovering in the play offs to gain promotion.

As a Barrovian who has lived in Walsall, I'd say that the Walsall fans have no reason to be critical of Barrow. I can't think of anything in which Walsall is better than Barrow. But I can think of a few things where Barrow is better than Walsall. A win on Saturday will put a big smile on my face.

You're probably right but Mansfield came in decent numbers last year for a promotion party, with inflatables and fancy dress and the like so maybe Tranmere would have a 'survival party'.

They can bring the entire population of Birkenhead as far as I’m concerned. As long as they are paying customers of course. The more the merrier. I’m sure that most will come dressed as Scousers though.

I do think Barrow will take it to them now Whingy has got them performing and I don't think their current form will change.

Walsall were given the full allocation of 900 away tickets for this one. Given our current form and if the weather stays kind we will hopefully get a crowd touching 4000
Andy Whing and Walsall boss Matt Sadler are good friends. Whing said in his after match interview yesterday that he was seeing him on Saturday nigh as they were both attending a Birthday celebration of a good friend.

Serious question - if we can sell more to them why not and open up the whole of the Holker Street end, the same for the visit of Tranmere, which will, considering their league position, also likely to attract a big away following. The extra money would reduce our losses this season and help towards next season’s hopeful play off push. Surely Barrow supporters wouldn’t mind standing elsewhere for two end of season games if it benefited the club long term.

That’s been done before. IIRC it was given to Darlington supporters. At the time the popular side never had a roof on it.

Just seen an interview with the Walsall manager that was uploaded to Twitter/X around four hours ago. Just over 600 Walsall fans attending was the figure mentioned. That is less than 70% of the allocation and that may increase on the day. Good to see though overall we do not do well for away fans (with one or two exceptions, though looks like even they will not be around next season).

In1968? No chance. I was stood on the Pop side.

Darlington (one new years day in the 90's) were given the popular side and if I remember correctly an absolute soaking. Game finished 1-1.
