Very good team performance. Whing’s found the formula for success in this league and if we can keep key players out of contract in summer then we can make progress next season. Continuity is key- we don’t need wholesale changes if we can avoid it. Mahoney- what a turn around, looks a different player. Pressley played that front role superbly and even when they came out with a bit more urgency second half we managed it well. We did give the ball away needlessly at times but overall a great win. Can’t half tell there is no pressure on us at all.

First half the football was a joy to watch, the passing, pressing was fantastic should have been at least 3 up, it changed second half because Walsall went all out attack and we tired a bit but the defence was magnificent thought (at last) Mahoney had his best game for us !
If this is how Whing wants to play it's going to be good next season!

We are in 15th place on 55 points after a comprehensive 2-0 victory over 3rd placed Walsall. It was a comprehensive team performance which, combined with Walsall’s toothlessness in front of goal, made the result comfortable.

A corner apiece in the opening minutes were both cleared. 10 minutes in Jackson was booked for a foul on Lakin.

In the 11th minute an excellent ball forward by Fletcher was skied from close range by Mahoney.

In the 23rd minute we made it 1-0, a cross from Jackson giving Pressley a close range shot which was initially parried by Simkin, but our No.33 made no mistake from the rebound.

Three minutes later Jackson fired a dangerous cross along the goal line with no-one to add the extra touch. Seconds later, man of the match Gotts fired over the bar.

Another two minutes later there was an excellent chance for the Bluebirds. A further excellent cross from Jackson was headed just wide of the right post by Pressley.

We were making the visitors look very ordinary by this stage.

In the 35th minute Jackson did well to win the ball and then a corner. Again this reached Pressley whose shot was deflected wide of the post.

Despite our superiority in the half, we nearly went in level, surviving a scare in the first minute of time added, Harrison heading wide in front of goal from a Gordon cross.

Walsall obviously had a dressing room rocket as they laid siege to the Barrow goal for the first 10 minutes of the second half. Stanway saved an Allen corner in the 48th minute and there were good defensive blocks from Barrow.

Ten minutes into the second period, Amanchi replaced Harrison for Walsall. However, we had settled by this stage. Two further changes by the visitors, with Matt and Lakin being replaced by Adomah and Hall in the 65th minute, didn’t throw us off balance either.

They did have a half-chance seconds later when a Hall shot was blocked for a corner but then Flether forced a block from Simkin down the other end.

In the 68th minute, Fletcher was replaced by MJ Williams and eight minutes later a further two changes by Walsall saw Johnson and Okagbue coming on for Jellis and Barrett.

Whitfield replaced Mahoney in the 78th minute. It was now a question of game management by Barrow.

Canavan was booked for a foul on Amantchi in the 83rd minute and two minutes later Acquah replaced Gotts.

In the end we went one stage better than seeing the narrow victory out, making it 2-0 in the third minute of time added. A great cross from Newby found substitute Acquah who scored from close range.

The attendance was announced as 3,071, including an impressive 615 visiting fans who were to be frustrated on the day. There was a lengthy ovation for the Barrow players and manager following the final whistle.
