This year's kids tickets have been the best ever to be fair to the club- in fact, this is after years and years of arguing with previous regimes. For example, we had to pay the Cassons as a Trust thousands of pounds to buy the 'free' tickets on the once or twice a year we had them. An ex director once told us 'why do we want kids running around' and various people at the club have seen any influx of youngsters as a potential threat or the ridiculous idea that the club is somehow in loco parentis if parents choose to drop their kids at the game. This has been, for the last 2 or 3 years- the best it has been.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:57 amCan’t remember many weekends where we’ve been at home this season where some of the players haven’t visited a school or a local youth team or whatever on a Friday; obviously only going off the subsequent social media coverage but they seem to have done that very well this seasonGriffin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 9:34 am I don't know if it has been tried, but how about targeting the schools before the new season starts?
If the players and the management went into the local schools and talked to the pupils it would almost certainly get some new fans (and of course the parents who would have to take younger children to the games)
I fervently hope the same system keeps going. I've got plenty at the club annoys the life out of me (like the overall approach to catering and having no ale) but at this we are doing great.
However, it does require a bit of drive in the schools and indeed clubs themselves. They have to make an effort to distribute them properly too, not just fire them out. There's three or four schools who I'd say know exactly who most benefits from the tickets.
