It’s coming home
It’s coming home
Could the demise of Morecambe possibly see us training back in the bay?
I didn’t ever see a way for us to bring the Training base back to barrow. and knowing the logistical benefit of us training in Manchester with access to players alone being its prize pig. Because of that I don’t think we will ever have an academy either as running one in Manchester would be pointless in my opinion. I think the academy must be based in the same town as the team just for identity alone. The academy and training ground are currently uninsured also and set to close for good on Monday.
Could the shrimps downfall possibly pave the way for this?

Re: It’s coming home
What training ground ?
Re: It’s coming home
I know there's a thread on general football and life goes on but I'd rather still be hoping the patient pulls through than talking about their demise as a given. Plus why would Barrow AFC base in Morecambe anyway.
Re: It’s coming home
Why would they base in Liverpool, leyland, Manchester and Rochdale I think I’ve covered every base we’ve had as BARROW AFC.
Carlisle have had a south lakes based development centres over the last 20 years.

Why would you change something that has probably been one of the major factors for the teams consistent rise over the years?

Without wishing to labour the point but if we were nuts enough to want to move our training facilities to Morecambe, there are probably several parties currently out there that think they already own it.
I wouldn’t go near the Mazuma without a hazmat suit atm.

Don’t Morecambe train at Lancaster and Morecambe college?

Yes - outdoor training there, gym stuff at the on-site gym at the ground which T Fury bought from them a few years ago.
I don’t think many, if any, of the players live locally. Even the academy is stuffed full of lads from ‘away’ who either drive in or board with local families.
Our lads will do less travelling going to FC every training day then Barrow for home games than the Morecambe lads schlepping up and down the M6 every day.
