Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Not a lot I can say about that!
Except…..Too many square pegs in round holes.

Poor. Didn't expect much from these two games but the lack of any attacking threat is a big concern at this early stage. We will know more in three or four games' time but this system doesn't provide much in the way of service to forwards. I'd be looking to bring in a couple of full backs/wing backs; looking at our squad firstly I don't think Jackson and Newby are consistent enough and secondly I don't see how we can change to a flat back four either.
Popular side since '03.

Whing hasn't recruited for a back 4 you're correct so he unfortunately has put all his eggs in one basket, but looking at what we have, he might have to re think , there's just no pace in the team, it's shocking really!Matty wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 5:53 pm Poor. Poor again , for all the money MK have spent there was an opportunity there to do the basics and come away with something but failed.
Hopeless balls up front to an isolated striker and again just needless errors. 5 at the back at home is fine if your going to actually get something from the game but we never even had a shot on target.
An actual wing back is needed to replace Newby or Jackson who were both poor again. And a bit of pace in behind to go off Innes.
Not sure what the point of signing Barkhauzen is to play him out position again. Pointless

Andy Whing gave an excellent post match interview after todays game on BBC Radio Cumbria putting things very much into perspective in where we are as a club compared to MK Dons and others and where we need to improve. Link below interview is 48 minutes in.

I’m not buying the sad story that other clubs are ahead of us with this and that. This club has proved over the last few year that in this league if you get the recruitment and tactics right, you don’t have to be a big club or big spender to compete.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 6:26 pm Andy Whing gave an excellent post match interview after todays game on BBC Radio Cumbria putting things very much into perspective in where we are as a club compared to MK Dons and others and where we need to improve. The last thing we need right now is to start feeling sorry for ourselves and go back to the mentality of thinking we’re below others in this league.

Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Game went much like I thought it would. l was hoping we could contain them for a decent 0-0 but like last week we slipped up at the back. Early days and l don't expect us to beat PNE or Notts County either. We must try not to get our ambitions mixed up with our limitations.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Why can’t anyone cross a ball?
Still short on pace; I thought Harper looked great in pre season as the deeper midfielder dictating play, hopefully we go back to that
