My apologies to Adam for this being a bit late with this but thank you for doing the excellent podcast featuring the GMV. It’s always good for people to hear what goes on behind the scenes as sometimes supporters don’t get to see or hear about these projects.

We’ve also had a couple of extra donations and at least two new volunteers since the podcast went out.

Any electricians on here

Bad planning but all three of our sparkies are away this weekend, which didn’t matter too much until the club got in touch this morning asking for two sockets and wires to be removed in the club shop asap. It doesn’t look a complicated job (to me ) so if anyone could help out we’ll be there on other jobs on Sunday morning.

If anyone could help out could you drop me a pm or reply on here please?

A quick update on a few of the jobs that have been going on over the summer.

Painting……everything and everywhere. A thankless task because it’s a forever job. We’re so lucky to have people who are willing to take this on as it does make a huge difference, unfortunately not for long!

The refreshment hut in the garage corner was actually collapsing towards the garage as the hut was starting to soak up too much water at the base. We lifted the whole hut and replaced the riders underneath.

Also, the first aid shelter was needed at the away end to be re-used as a disabled shelter for away supporters. It actually worked well as now we have built a new first aid shelter that doesn’t obstruct views in that corner.

This one has been one of our bigger projects over the summer (thank you to the NSC for contributing and their continued support of us)

The garage corner turnstile and entrance/exit was a….well, a mess. These are how it was.

The turnstile roof was basically “held on” by gravity. It was rusting, full of holes. The turnstile area itself was filthy and cramped - caused in part by a partition that was not needed.

The roof was taken off and fully replaced by new corrugated sheeting.

The turnstile interior has been totally revamped, painted, false ceiling fitted, new doors - interior and exterior and brand new lighting installed.

The turnstile exterior has been fully painted and the walls on either side of the steps have been cladded, covering a multitude of sins…

Lots of other jobs ongoing including one of our biggest yet….that’s for another day and when complete

Not too sure about that mate. We actually found another turnstile behind the partition and we were going to try and fit both in there, unfortunately it couldn’t be saved as all the legs had rotted through. What we are going to do with it though is keep the top, remove about ten layers of paint and put it in the fanzone on one of the walls as a table top. A bit of history saved rather than it being scrapped.
