Basically Barrow matches all follow a similar pattern this season.To start with we’re totally outplayed then we make a comeback but deep down you realise we won’t ever get anything from the game. We should have had a penalty, yes no doubt about it, but why the hell do we never seem to show any intent until the match is lost. As we all know football is a results based business and being gallant losers gets you nowhere. It was game over as soon as Bristol Rovers scored. We’re mentally very weak, that needs addressing otherwise we’ll be in real trouble this season. One other thing the strong wind helped us second half.

Given that relegation is a risk every season, you’d think that the club would have a contingency plan to restructure in the event that the worse happens. One would hope that contracts with playing and coaching staff have been written in such a way to allow the necessary restructuring without causing financial crisis.

Injuries or not, I'm afraid this season he appears to set up so negative. Not gonna work, if nothing changes we're only going one way.

Whing said much the same in his interview with Adam. He knows what the problem is, but you couldn't expect him to come up with the answer in an interview - that is for him, Kelly and Pead to work out.

Agreed. I think it’s a mentality thing coming from the manager. He’s operating at a higher level than he has previously and there are some big clubs and big grounds in this league. But the quicker he realises that doesn’t translate into them being something to be scared of the better. If he doesn’t then we are doomed!

The subs seemed to spark some life into us as for the first 10-15 of the second half we were doing nothing.
Whing waited too long to do it and as spirited a second half showing as it was, and we should’ve got something from it, that first half was dreadful and the sort of performance that gets managers sacked.

Second half we had a go and put balls into the box, had a few shots and were a unlucky with a couple from Jackson and a great save from their keeper to keep out Mahoney I think it was. It’s easy to play at 2 down though and too late by then.
Had it not been for a horrendous decision not to give a penalty by a very poor referee when Fletcher was clearly tripped, we might’ve got a draw which after the first half would’ve seemed impossible.

There’s something clearly not right, the second half showed we have a little bit more about us but for some reason it’s not happening enough and throughout the game from start to finish. It’s not all down to the injuries either.
Fletcher was good when he came on which is a bonus and good to see Williams back too, but another one going out in Canavan injured again. Scott Smith is nowhere near good enough and the midfield as much as anywhere else is costing us, no aggression and no one picking up loose balls, acres of room between the midfield and defence.
