HELP NEEDED.

Without giving too much away at the moment, we are in the middle of the biggest job we’ve ever taken on for the club but we are being slowed down because we are struggling for the right tradesperson to help us out. We are desperate for the help of a plumber or someone with plumbing skills at a DIY level.

If you, or you know someone who could help us out it’d be a huge help to us & will push along the finishing of this project while massively helping the club in the process. It’s probably a mornings work, perhaps two.

We will be at the ground this Sunday morning if you feel you are able to help us but can be flexible with other times.

The new first aid shelter was built this week, the old one had to be moved into the away fans area going back to its original intended use as a disabled shelter. Just a touch of paint and a clean of the inside of the plastic sheeting (all re-used materials)

We think we’ve now painted about 90% of the walls inside the ground over the summer which has been a huge job, hopefully it makes everything look a bit sharper & clean.

A massive thank you to two forum users who have recently given us a couple of donations, plus one very generous donation (equalling our biggest ever in recent years) off a gentleman who can’t attend many games as he lives a distance away from the town.

All the jobs & projects done over fifteen years and you pick up on one that isn’t even finished, which I did mention. It was basically an update.

What are you expecting - a cantilevered, carpeted gin bar look? Perhaps the concept of 'shelter' is beyond you?

I’ve gone on record many times praising the work of our volunteers so many apologies if my comments are taken the wrong way. In my opinion it just didn’t look good but if others deem it fit for purpose and yes as a shelter then fair enough.

As it stands the shelter doesn’t look great, but only this morning we were planning the next stage, which will be tidying it up - like I say, it wasn’t a finished job. Even when it is complete it’s not ever going to look like a championship clubs first aid shelter but there were no plans in place to replace what was there previously (which wasn’t a good look either as it was something that was just being re-purposed) so this was something put together to protect the first aiders until some money became available or a better idea put forward. Another reason for the quickly assembled shelter was we literally have that much going on at the moment, things the club are pushing for.

How do you know I already haven’t?

The volunteers are the lifeblood of the club and everything they’ve completed to date has been outstanding but for me the shelter didn’t look right.

Ian and the team no doubt will do their best to make it look as best it can be.

I did try to explain it’s not the finished article, and I can’t think of any job that we’ve taken that I and the others wouldn’t be proud to put our names to. If anything we did wasn’t up to scratch I don’t think the club would be landing more & more work on us such as the two big projects we have on the go at the moment. Having said that, sometimes we have make do with things that “are ok for the time being” in the case of this, would we have preferred to have been given 5k for a professional first aid shelter that we could buy from Stadium Solutions - of course we would. Would we like the stadium to have decent walls that don’t need painting every year, definitely.

Anyway, I think I’ll just be a bit more careful about what is posted from now on.

Hopefully we can leave this conversation where it is and agree that the club (and GMV) don’t have the sort of cash floating around to make things look as good as what we’d all like things to be.
