So you wouldn't want something like the City of York have got? Something that the community can enjoy and be proud of and enabling both clubs in the city to progress and move forward as was seen last week with York Knights being admitted to Super League.
And be paying the council masses of money in rent every month

We are talking about needing more money in investment now - imagine what it would be like if the money that we make during the week from people using Holker Street for meetings was taken away - added to having to fork out rent as well.

Holker street isn’t perfect, but what we make on it is ours - that wouldn’t be the case if we played in a council owned stadium
Spot on.
All these advocates of a shared stadium tend to be really blinkered.

The shared stadium idea always seems a perfect solution to everyones footballing woes….an easy way to go but when all the detail pops up (as mentioned by Adam) it’s far from it.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Imagine what investment could be attracted into the club alone by having a stadium built by both public and private investment. Surely we would be far more attractive proposition with a community stadium similar to what York have. As it stands i dont believe we will attract anyone with serious money to help us progress and that goes for both the rugby and the soccer.
Getting back to what Jonty originally said both clubs need and have to be round the table with Simon Case and Tean Barrow to discuss how/if the mass funding coming into the town could benefit both clubs in Barrow

We do need a Plan B and exploring such avenues would cost us nothing. We have all picked up on the vibes from the current owners, they are looking for substantial investment to keep the status quo at Barrow and they don't have a bottomless pit of money. And if the owners money does eventually dry up what are we left with then? We need to future-proof the club somehow and if any viable proposals are ever presented to us the owners and the supporters would need to give them serious consideration.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Exactly this. My concern is it is increasingly difficult to maintain an aging asset (or liability). I am also fully aware that we are all emotionally invested in Holker Street, but unless someone’s lotto numbers come up, I don’t see how we can the redevelop the ground to what it needs to be to support the longer term, not without borrowing to some degree.

A mixture of public and 'private' investment rarely works.
Dont give up what you already have because just like the way the NHS is going - Once its gone, you won't get it back.

Always remember, if the Rugby were on an even keel, we could go to hell. I remember a certain Vic saying that years ago.

And there lies the problem in your final paragraph for some. Folk stuck in and out of date time warp unwilling to change or even discuss. The owners of both clubs have changed since the days of Vic Brownbill and the perceived anamosity berween the owners does not exist. Our chairman’s company has sponsored the rugby for many years

As for a mixture of public and private investment rarely worming the York model appears to be working well with both clubs prospering and moving forward and residents and visitors benefitting from the facilities the Community stadium provides

Just unsubstantiated claims, repeated until enough people think it couldn't / wouldn't work. What we have in the town is two crumbling grounds that do not generate the year round income needed to sustain EFL or provide a platform for continued growth, without the owners digging deep year in year out and a willing band of volunteers. Do you agree with that at least?

Don’t understand why so many are so against it…. Time to think differently perhaps and let whatever Vic said all those years ago, go.

Both clubs also have money behind them which has aided their success
York city’s budget for example would absolutely swamp ours. They paid £300k for a player just last season

The point is Adam, York have given themselves the platform for both clubs to succeed. It opens up far more opportunities for investment, not least becomes a community asset. As I stress, I love HS but recognise it limits any opportunities.
In fact even now, with the housing development earmarked for the old Brady’s Yard on Wilkie Road. That would put a planning application nightmare onto that side of the ground.

Having that community stadium would attract the money men. I have no doubt it was one of the things that attracted Matthew Uggla to become the majority shareholder at the football club and pump the finances into the playing side.
Yorks average attendance last year was there highest in fifty years and I’m certain results on the pitch in conjunction with a great new facility are the reasons for that

As mentioned by Jonty it would be great for Barrow if we could use the 'Barrow Rising' money for something like this; York City Community Stadium. https://yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk/lner ... y-stadium/ For £44million ( what York paid) it would be a real statement for the town, something significant and lasting which thousands of people in the local community would be using regularly. Maybe we would be paying rent but we are running at a £3million annual loss now I think and furthermore opportunities like 'Barrow Rising' come along very, very rarely indeed.

Are we not making a loss now due to mainly the wages? Compared to attendances? Not sure how that relates to the ground, Fylde have a nice ground, very nice sports bar, the football speaks louder though. Plus our owners bought the garage on HS, and have used money from their own pocket to improve the ground vastly since we got promoted. Moving to some sterile / neutral ground doesn’t seem appealing , visually or financially.

At this present moment in time it appears to be the towns only chance of maybe having a stadium fit for the future for both clubs and supporters to enjoy. and encourage investment into both clubs as has happened in York enabling the Soccer and rugby to progress. Like I have said lets hope the owners are round the table with the board of Barrow Rising to se what could be done for professional sport in Barrow and the wider sports community.
