As others have said why the hell didn’t Harper take that guy out for their second goal, so soft and so naive.

As easy as it might be to pile on, I at least think the new boys need to be given a little breathing space to settle in.
Jackson though...I've lost count of the number of times I've commented that he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the team.
Stanway looks like he peaked a season ago.
Canavan looks to have lost all interest and composure.
And I still think we are suffering a rolling hangover from losing Pete Wild. We should have removed whatever blocker there is at the club and had him back.

Good point Chris but from a great position and competing really well we once again missed the opportunity for points.barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 5:59 pm Needs to be some realism on where both teams were in the league today.
Next month is crucial we have games we simply have to win.

Not being funny Chris but look at last week and surely Harrogate and Newport and Shrewsbury will be thinking the same!barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 5:59 pm Needs to be some realism on where both teams were in the league today.

This is no reflection on any of the new lads, but they've landed right into a struggling side with an inexperienced coach who i think thinks we might be able to play our way out of trouble. He’s going to have to ditch that idea, we are now leaking goals, when early on it was helping us get points on the board. The only way we will survive the drop this season will be to roll the sleeves up and fight for everything. Have we got players who will leave it all out there?
Today would have been a bonus point, to get anything at Notts will be a bonus. We are right in a three way battle with Newport and Harrogate. Thats what it will come down to.

I think the Safety Advisory Group need to scrutinise our training regime, seems far too dangerous should carry a health warning.

Maybe we should have upped his wages to come back to us, instead of buying some of our new players!
Re: Swindon Town v Barrow, match thread
Jackson looked ok when we first signed him but has been getting worse every game to the point you know when he comes on we will let a goal in. Mahonney also offers nothing for me
Re: Swindon Town v Barrow, match thread
Have to agree with the general consensus that it was a very strange move taking off Powell who had a good game at both ends, against a tricky opponent in the Swindon 29. Jackson couldn’t contain him at all and even his touch was off. Once that happened and after Swindon crowd had been getting a bit restless, we seemed to lose a bit of momentum and the game turned. We ended up deep, stopped winning balls in midfield and looked under pressure. We looked leggy not sure why given the week off and it was Swindon who had played Tuesday not us.
The first goal came from a corner unnecessarily conceded after J Anderson and Stanway didn’t communicate, I thought J Anderson was poor all round really cost us a goal last week with a poor tackle and if be putting Canavan back in. The second was good play and a finish but far too easy for the player and someone had to take him out before he got that far and again we were just exposed down that right with Whitfield on pushing up. The third a lot of passing from Swindon against a tiring team and although a good save from Stanway, straight to their forward to put in.
The drop off second half in particular the last 25 is worrying we stopped competing and passing. Heads go down too easily and we lack any leadership when we’re under the cosh, lack leaders out there. Mahoney jogging back after losing it at 3-1 summed it up.
Positives are a decent first half performance albeit conceding a goal from a corner. The negatives pretty much everything in the second. There’s a definite improvement but can’t help but feel Swindon were there for the taking at 1-1, crowd was getting on them and they looked a bit out of ideas. Then we drop off and hand it to them.
Worrying times…

Re: Swindon Town v Barrow, match thread
Our Head Coach was totally responsible for that result today. Took off the outstanding player and put one on totally devoid of confidence. I also thought Gally post match interview with AJ was a rabbit in headlamps job. I feel less confident of our ability to survive. I’d jump at the opportunity to get Pete Wild back in the building ASAP. He’s a great fit for Barrow even if we do go down.

Most of these lot couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I know it’s doom and gloom, but I don’t see us getting out of this.
Re: Swindon Town v Barrow, match thread
Just seen the goals, the second and third are beyond embarrassing defending and a totally inexcusable lack of desire to put a foot in and make a tackle. We’ve seen enough of this now. Sort it out.

Insanity is the definition of doing the same stuff and hoping for a different outcome, clearly we aren't capable of realising change is probably a good thing.
Re: Swindon Town v Barrow, match thread
I wonder what the situation will be with these players in the National League because I think they will struggle to be even in mid table.
The reason I say this is because I think Harrogate will just manage to somehow pull away.
I think the writing is on the wall now.
