Absolutely spot on. You turned up to Holker Street genuinely expecting to win no matter who we were playing; and whilst it wasn’t exactly the Ultras Barrovia era there was at least always a good crowd in and folk had bought in and were engaged in the game. Most of this season people either aren’t arsed, angry or just a bit sad at how it’s all panning out

I agree that the time had come for Whing to go. I also agree that not replacing him with an experienced manager was another mistake. Clemence was a mistake, Whing was a mistake, Gallagher was a mistake. In my, and many others, opinion letting Wild go was a mistake...so WHO is making these mistakes?
The owners of the club. The buck stops with them imo. They hold the purse strings they ultimately have the final yes or no in things . Yes we will always be grateful for what they have done but that does not mean that Hornby, Shearer and Wilkes should never be immune from criticism when things go wrong.
In many ways that is the question.
We see bigger clubs in different leagues mismanaged, and when the patience of the fans runs out, they call for the head(s) of the board. Think Mike Ashley, The Glazers, The Venkys at Blackburn, to name but a few.
It doesn’t matter what the precise reason for the unhappiness of the fans is, the buck ultimately stops with the board (usually after several managers have been sacked beforehand [think Barrow on this one]).
Those clubs as examples invariably have big money successors waiting in the wings.
We do not. Repeat we do not.
PH and his team have put their heart and soul into Barrow since Casson left. Everywhere the club has improved, with the vital exception of on the pitch with a successful manager.
Starting with and including Dunn we have had 10 managers since June 2020.
Have the appointments been careless? Have they been mistakes? Have they been bad luck? Have they been too ambitious?
Just at the moment I would say that historically the managerial selection process can be questioned, because of the numbers involved, and the position we are in.
But questioned/criticised to what end? If it’s damaging enough, who would blame them if they just left?
Does that mean the board need to go?
In my opinion 100% NOT.
If they went the club would spiral out of meaningful existence, as there is no one waiting in the wings to fill their boots, and Barrow AFC as we know it would be no more.
It’s a horrible situation we are in.
Somehow we need to claw our way away from the threat of relegation; how we do it I don’t know. Just got to keep trying.

I would hate to see the owners go. They have been unbelievable with what they have done for the club. I would say, however, as successful business men they must surely realise that the appointment and recruitment processes they are using are woefully inadequate. Surely they have to change that process.

Yeah, good assessment. The way out of it is to find someone like a Rob Kelly (no chance that the man himself will) who is prepared to come in as an assistant coach and with whom PG is prepared to work. That way no one loses face, we stagger through to the end of the season and take it from there. Thomas Frank's available.
Don't let the old man in.

I watched the match and have listened to Gallaghers interview post match. I agree with everything he said about the attitude of this team 100%. ..and it has been that way all season.
The Board have appointed another young unproven manager who needs time to gain experience with the hope of finding another Ian Evatt.
You don't get experience overnight but fans concerns about our current plight are totally justified.
The answer must lie in an experienced mentor to work with him until such a time as he can go it alone.
I would suggest someone in the mold of Niel Cox who is getting great results as assistant at York City. I doubt he would come but we need someone to build grit and steel into this squad who can help Paul Gallagher before he cracks as AW seemed to do.
The things that need to change cost nowt. Gallagher needs to show his metal with this soft arsed squad until managerial reinforcements arrive.

I think we know the answer to that hoss, and that is the man above the Head Coach - the DOF.
I think the owners have been absolutely fantastic in keeping the club alive, but appointing him to the board where he is fireproof was a MASSIVE MISTAKE!

Without his appointment we would not have had the two seasons we had under Pete Wild. Wood brought him here It went wrong after the Chelsea game that was over two years into his tenure.. Whing looked a good appointment at the end of last season. It’s the last close season where it’s gone wrong imo and accountability for that needs to be addressed in the summer

I think PH has openly admitted they are still on a learning curve themselves and rely heavily from input like Rob Kelly for example.. don't forget peeps, we have been out of the league for almost a 1/4 or a century!!
Calling for a change of heads again surely isn't the right thing to do? The lads barely got his foot in the door . Yes, it's dire but what I want to see now is his promise of being tough and for the team to listen and understand his expectations.
When the chips are down, it's easy to look for the easy way out but with 17 games to pay, I think we would be nuts to change right now!
We have some home games coming up, i sincerely hope the manager is roasting his players as we speak and we see a difference Saturday!
Why should al the managers be sacked off from bone idle non interested players?? We know they can do it, we are seen it .
So if anything, maybe some support for Gallagher who's been around the block, maybe old school approach.. hope he's brave and is prepared to play a different system? And we must hold out breath and see what comes at the weekend..

Has the D O F ever overseen a training session or with the managers agreement spoken to the team and given them a rocket.

With respect what planet are you on saying its not quite time to press the panic button!!!! We are 3 points off the bottom, playing awful, heading for relegation. If this is not the time to press the panic button I don't know when is.

It's my opinion and I don't think it's right to be jacking another manager.. two home games, let's see if he's a strong as he says he is..

17 to go, not 5...

Cool heads needed in bad situations.

You can do something with 17 games to go, you cant with 5. Decisions have to be made now.
