Re: We are going down!
Good post and I too think there's more to it than on the field matters, but we will presumably never know because of the NDA.Cokey wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 6:37 pmI was sad too when Pete Wild and Adam Temple left the club. They gave us a couple of excellent seasons. We overachieved under them, in my opinion.
Yes, it was up and down, at times, but certainly more ups, that’s for sure, and some incredible, memorable, moments.
I don’t think I’ve quite enjoyed watching Barrow, or had as much belief in Barrow, since they left.
I’m going to say this, yes, it was a poor and disappointing end to the season, when Pete and Adam left the club. 2 points out of our last 7 matches, dropping out of the playoffs at the death.
However, I don’t think their ‘parting’ from us was entirely ‘on the pitch’ related. I really don’t.
We finished the 2022/23 season 9th on 62 points, with a goal difference of -6.
We finished the 2023/24 season 8th on 69 points, with a goal difference of +6.
That’s an improvement. Plus you have to factor in that second season featured Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield. Big clubs, with huge budgets.
So do I believe Pete and Adam left, all down to ‘on the field’ performance? No, absolutely not, no way.
I am not a person ‘in the know’, so I can only assume that something happened, at some point, right before, during, or soon after those fateful, final, seven matches, which will never be public knowledge, but ultimately led to us parting ways with Pete and Adam.
What I will say is I wish Pete Wild, and Adam Temple, the very best for the future. I appreciate all you did for us. Thank you.

See Chris Popov has scored for Morecambe again tonight ( 7 goals in the last 6 games), Perhaps we didn't make full use of him.

Tranmere down to 10 men.
Newport be going for the win now!

Re: We are going down!
Tranmere are in freefall. They have lost 9 of the last 11 games. Like Crawley who are also back to their normal self these are two of the clubs we should be aiming for.
Re: We are going down!
To rub more salt in our open wounds (literally for Malcolm) the sending off seemed a bit weak compared to the assault made on our player last Saturday.

Re: We are going down!
True, but we need 10 points to get above Tranmere, and that’s if they don’t get any more points from their remaining 11 matches!
A big ask, the way we are playing.
Re: We are going down!
Newport Bang at it after that flakey begining.. fingers crossed Tranmere Defence is a tad better than ours is under pressure..

We just need to win those two games in hand!

The thing that worries me is how Harrogate and from watching Newport tonight, is how these other teams look capable! Can you honestly see us having as much play and putting pressure on 10 men as these are? I’d say no chance because we simply are good enough technically to keep hold of the ball!
Re: We are going down!
Id agree. Watching Harrogate of late they show resolve and now with pivotal players returning from injury look very capable of getting more points than us.. We look disjointed and very vulnerable at the back.. Our attacking prowess is well documented

Agree mate. Having watched Harrogate last week, and Newport tonight, we are behind them in performances right now. Harrogate should’ve won on Friday and Newport should be ahead here!Gazza wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:28 pmThe thing that worries me is how Harrogate and from watching Newport tonight, is how these other teams look capable! Our last 10 games: 1 win, 0 draws and 9 defeats.
I dislike being negative, but just being realistic with the way we are playing.
