One of our best half’s of football this season the second half today.

IF and it’s a big if we can play like that the remainder of the season we stay up.

Turn up like that and we have every hope of staying up.. why the hell have they not been like this all season?? There is and always has been the ability all season.. mind boggles!

However.. that's all we want to see, some fight and determination.

Great result and proves we can win a game with the effort today. Myself included said I don't know where the piints would come from but happily proved wrong.
Couple of worry moments when Shipley left a ball to go over him as someone must have shouted and when Stanway came to edge of crowded box to punch it but luckily nothing came from either. Gordon should have shot when 1 on 1 as that pass was never on.
Not gonna get carried away as typically other teams won around us, would have been far more sweet if we'd jumped up 3 places tonight. Have to go again and show that fight at MK, again no one will give us a chance but put up a fight and show we're in this scrap until the end.

Stanway has come in - sometimes rightly - for stick for some poor displays but a couple of great saves today. Nothing he could do about the free kick.

Well done to everyone. - just the hope that we all - including the team - take the massive positives out of the game.

They came to HS with a 21 unbeaten run - and met their match against all the odds!

Crowd also played its part.

A superb performance against top of the table Bromley, coming from behind and we could have scored another couple! This is a return to the long-standing Barrow tradition of doing better playing the teams at the top, and we need to now carry that confidence and momentum forward. Our precious three points come at a vital time as Newport and Crawley also won. Harrogate lost at home and are anchored to the bottom, while Tranmere lost again bringing them firmly into the dogfight.

It was great to see the fans getting noisily behind the lads and it was very emotional clapping them off the pitch.

There was a very strong westerly breeze blowing the ball towards the Holker Street end. In the first half, Bromley played with the wind and started strongly, winning a corner in the first minute. A second corner followed two minutes later.

However, we soon settled and in the 5th minute had a corner ourselves. Played in from the left, Harper headed on to Canavan whose shot was blocked on the line. Sowunmi went down for treatment after defending the corner.

In the 14th minute Rose was fouled by Charles. Mahoney’s free kick caused mayhem in Bromley’s area. Initially cleared, Shipley headed back in for shots from MJ Williams and Gordon to be blocked. Four minutes later an excellent Earing cross found no-one to apply the finishing touch.

In the 19th minute, Hondermarck was booked for a bad foul on MJ Williams as we impressively continued to ramp up the pressure. Mahoney’s free kick was cleared, but we then won a corner cheaply conceded by Sowumni which the visitors were relieved to also clear.

Gordon then went down for treatment which seemed to galvanise Bromley into upping their game. From the restart in the 25th minute, a telling cross from Ifill was saved by Stanway at full stretch, nearly carrying the ball over the line.

In the 29th minute, the strong wind blew out a Barrow header for a Pinnock corner. That was defended but Bromley kept up their revival. In the 34th minute, Harper fouled Whitely on the edge of the area and was booked. Charles rifled his free kick into the top right corner, giving Stanway no chance at all.

Although a superbly executed set piece, this seemed cruel on Barrow’s efforts in the half but an impressive strength of character, buoyed by an increasingly noisy supporting crowd, was to turn the tables in the second half. There was a bizarre booking for Rose in the 45th minute to temporarily rub salt in the wound.

Playing with the wind in the second half towards the Holker Street support, our lads turned in a gutsy recovery, going for every ball. This needed to be a cup final and we turned it into just that!
Stanway made a crucial good save from Kabamba five minutes in to avoid a 2-0 deficit. From this point it was largely Barrow. A good cross from Mahoney in the 52nd minute gave Rose a chance on goal.

Four minutes later, after Stanway dealt with a Dinanga header following a free kick, we made the breakthrough. Another cross from the right by Mahoney found Gordon who headed in from close range. 1-1, and all to play for!

On the hour, Earling was fouled on the edge of the area by Whitely who was booked. Jackson’s free kick went just over the bar.

Dinanga and Hondermarck were then replaced by Evans and Arthurs as fresh legs threated our own revival.

However, we continued to press after a Mahoney corner in the 67th minute. The ball came out to Canavan who found Rose who fired past Smith for 2-1.

Five minutes later, Bromley replaced fill with Ajayi.

However, we continued winning as many balls as possible, and suddenly Gordon was through in the 76th minute on goal with only Smith to beat. Gordon seemed caught in two minds, perhaps thinking he was offside, enabling the ball to be cleared for a corner. Arthurs was then booked, and Earing had a shot saved as we continued our effective pressure. McDonald the headed over following a corner.

In the 82nd minute, we made our first changes as Fletcher came on for Rose. Three minutes later, Harper tried a sharp shot from range but it was fired straight at Smith. A minute later, Gordon headed a Mahoney cross over the bar.

By this stage it could have been 3-1 or even 4-1 to Barrow but while the lead was only one goal, the fans were wondering whether our late conceding of goals would haunt us yet again.

In the 87th minute, Smith and Malcolm came on for Mahoney and an injured Earing, while Ilunga replaced Odutayo for Bromley.

We seemed possessed through the remaining ten minutes including over six of added time to ensure there was no repeat of previous games.

A Charles free kick from range in the 89th minute was punched out by Stanway, but Barrow fans feared the worst when Charles was fouled by Gordon on the edge of the area in the 93rd minute. Charles’ free kick was blocked this time to everyone’s relief, and we saw the final few minutes out well, blocking every shot and getting possession back quickly.

What a transformation! A deserved ovation at the end. Onwards and upwards!

Attendance was 2,303 with 149 from Bromley.

It’s days like today that we live for. Awful conditions and top of the league , unbeaten for 21 games and 0-1 at half time , against the run of play. Then we really turn up and produce our best performance this season ( which is a pretty low bar ) and possibly last as well ( which is definitely higher). Huge. I had almost forgotten what it feels like to overcome such odds - not by luck but by blood guts and no little craft. We looked and felt like a team . The crowd loved it and played their part. It was fkn brilliant . Onto MK d and 4 home games to come. We can do it. Come on — get yourself to HS and together we can write a chapter in the history of this club no one expects.
