This is the worst assembled squad we’ve ever had in the EFL. They don’t look as sharp as other teams. How many carrying injuries? I think we need a clean slate and so do some of these players. Can’t see many wanting to stay here even under contract
Tom White- Boreham Wood, not a spectacular player but he’d walk into this midfield and he’d always put a shift in. Plays 40 games a season without fail. Farman was another let go. That’s what we needed.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Whoever comes in as the next manager, the board need to get out of his way. If we take on another gamble that just does what the board want, none of whom are football men, then we might as well start asking to groundshare with Holker Old Boys.
No DoF.
A manager, not a head coach.
Nobody currently at the club ever involved in recruitment of players.
Kicking out all of the players behind the player-power that saw upset this season.

A very good point was made on the Barrow Social this week; who’s appointing the new manager? Because whether it’s Wood himself or the board in full do you trust them to get it right?

Anyone know who was behind "player power"?

I'd hope that Wood and Harvey are either in different roles and nothing to do with that side or have moved on completely.
Hornby himself saying we had a great transfer window and seemingly being oblivious to how poor we actually were is also a concern.

We need change off the pitch too and as others have said a more football savvy person involved. I also wouldn't trust them to make the right appointment this time and as the old saying goes if you change nothing then nothing changes...

When we were relegated in 1971/72 our record was won 13, lost 22,draw 11 this season not including the Newport game won 9,lost 27,draw 9 not good reading and I thought the team in 1971 was bad, this season we have lost 27 games same as Newport.

Our first season back in the EFL (2020/21) was identical to that season back in 1971/72. Won 13, Drew 11, Lost 22. The total points was different, due to it only being 2 points for a win back then. This changed in 1981, with the introduction of 3 points for a win.

2020/21: Won 13 Drew 11 Lost 22. Points 50.
2021/22: Won 10 Drew 14 Lost 22. Points 44.
2022/23: Won 18 Drew 8 Lost 20. Points 62.
2023/24: Won 18 Drew 15 Lost 13. Points 69.
2024/25: Won 15 Drew 14 Lost 17. Points 59.

2025/26 (so far): Won 9 Drew 9 Lost 27. Points 36.

Our collapse has been absolutely huge when you look at the 3 previous seasons.

It will be interesting to see if the board issue a statement following our final game, a number of EFL clubs who have already been relegated have already done this. I would also hope that the board have been active in trying to attract a new manager. Interestingly Morecambe announced their new manager last night.

Funny to think if a few games had finished 1 minute early we’d probably be safe.

At the half-way point (23 games) this season we were on 24 points, - albeit things were tailing off - but the drop in the second half has been spectacular.
Don't let the old man in.

The first half of the season (almost) was quite settled with just the one ‘head coach’. Then it went spectacularly wrong. Hiring and firing time after time.

If we’d replaced Whing with an experienced manager, given him the January window, we’d have finished mid table easily.

Lessons have been learnt… hopefully.
