Yes stop this fixation with Wild.He had a gagging legal order put on club remember Mr Hornby saying he wasn’t allowed to comment on certain things. He must have done something himself that shows him in a bad light so I don’t trust him anymore.Would love to have Evatt back because he was an excellent manager and an experienced footballer at higher level.Bigfathoss wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 8:22 pmNo, because you're wrong. He has been our best manager since Evatt. Our moaning was about missing out on play-offs. Now we are non-league again because of the decision to back the wrong horse.

The gagging order could have been imposed because of the verbosity and animosity between Wild and certain members of the Board which I believe got very nasty.
Evatt got us in the league but COVID helped as well.
Would not touch him with a barge poll because of his off the field activities.
Will never forget the interview he gave when leaving the club.
Sounded like one of Donald Trump's speachs.

Re: Wood Gone
There is no foundation. Some people forget where we were before Wood came in. We never had a training ground the players could call home. We had just survived narrowly avoiding relegation in our first two seasons in the EFLblue nige wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 5:09 amThat's because you wouldn't except what the board told us at the meeting instead of constantly mentioning this ,start going to the meet the board meetings and Then call them out!bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 9:15 pm

Wood came in secured FC United as a training base and got Pete Wild in as manager. He was a major factor in improving facilities for the players and along with the fantastic work by the GMV improving the facilities for the players families at Holker st.
Up until the Chelsea defeat he had done a brilliant job.
Yes he had to go after the disastrous season we have just had but it should never be forgotten the good work he did and improved the club immeasurably off the field.

To suss out someone: To study and evaluate someone; size someone up:
There is no proof - it is a feeling based on many years of dealing with many people. You don't always get it right but on this occasion some of us did.
I'm sure that at that time the Board was acting with the very best of intentions and gave the information that they believed at the time. I trust the Board implicitly and don't have any reason to believe otherwise. Without them the club would not exist and I thank them for that.
When they look back they are probably regretting what they said, but that is with the benefit of hindsight. The brevity and tone of their 'sacking' message says it all - even though there weren't many words in it. It has also been 'liked' on other social media by former players. Make of that what you will.
Yes the players weren't brilliant but in my opinion losing the club's league status is mainly down to one man. It doesn't give me any pleasure in saying that - just the opposite. As I say it's opinion, which we are all entitled to, especially on a message board like this.
Yes - he did much to get us training facilities etc, for which I and others are grateful. He also dis a lot around the ground, and again I thank him for that.
And just because someone is not able to go to a meeting doesn't make those who could any more virtuous, or knowledgeable.
Had I been there and said something do you think it would have made any difference? They are the Board and have made a decision in what they thought at the time was in the best interests of the club. That's why they are the Board.
At the moment we are all hurting but I am sure the Board will come up with a plan to take us forward in a positive direction, and I am already looking forward to next season with a positive attitude.
We have got through many setbacks in the past and we can get through this one.
Glass half full!

Re: Wood Gone
Agreed. I felt that the criticism of Wood started only after he was appointed CEO. As a former football agent, he came for a background that tends to be disprespected anyway. I am sure he always worked hard for the club and, as the previous post says made a big contribution. Some of the comments about him, especially this season, bordered on libellous.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 8:56 amThere is no foundation. "Libellous", yet he has never sued anyone. Speaks volumes.
Crediting him with getting us a training ground and preserving our league status, when we've just lost both of those things, is hilarious.

Re: Wood Gone
As a CEO I recognise his input. I believe the board when they say he did things for them that were important. My issue has always been that he should never have been involved in any recruitment. He's not a footballing man. Never played, never coached, never managed. Involving him was foolhardy.

Re: Wood Gone
So now Wood's gone, who makes the footballing decisions as to who stays, who goes, offered new contract, taking up contract extension options?

Re: Wood Gone
In an ideal world, that would be a new football manager, who is tasked with managing and not just coaching. Of course, the question remains of who should pick the manager. We are seeing the problems of not having a footballing man involved in these decisions. I don't think our position has, or does, warrant a DoF but maybe there is another position?

Re: Wood Gone
Every head coach we have had has said they worked as a team on recruitment; that they, the coaches, would say who they wanted and Wood would go off and try to negotiate a deal. It could well be that Iain Wood brought names to the table that he had been offered but the idea that such players were then foisted on the head coach without his agreement - and then being told to play them - seems fanciful to me.
Don't let the old man in.

Like the owners said at the Q&A the head coach/ manager had the final say as to whether they wanted the player or not. As part of the recruitment team I’m certain Woods role was no more than the negotiator and the deal maker with the player and the agent

Re: Wood Gone
I challenged your post because you put all the blame on Wood, Joe Harvey and whoever the Manager was were the 3 involved in recruitment with the Manager having the final say !, so how you personally sussed this out is quite astounding!bluessupporter wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 9:08 am To suss out someone: To study and evaluate someone; size someone up:

I mentioned the meeting because this was made clear by our board, and Paul Hornby took full responsibility for appointing Gallagher who because he decided the transfer window effectively relegated us because it was so poor!, so going by that do you want Paul Hornby gone?
Before you ask ,I told Wood that I didn't think he had the credentials to be in charge of football and he agreed and so did the board!
To be fair he looked a broken man and some of the things wrote on twitter and Facebook are scandalous but it's easy when you're hiding behind a pseudonym!
I love this club as much as anyone BUT sometimes we all need to take stock and look at the bigger picture instead of making assumptions!
