SO, farewell
Farewell the SO Stadium and welcome back Holker Street (at least until another sponsor comes along):

Trying not to be overly negative but surely we should have had a replacement lined up before the deal came to an end. Bit late in the day to be asking for expressions of interest now isn't it?

Re: SO, farewell
Maybe they did but it was dependent on us being in the EFL. Let’s face it any sponsor next season won’t get the same exposure as they would being in the EFLblue blue boy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2026 10:22 am Trying not to be overly negative but surely we should have had a replacement lined up before the deal came to an end. But if any new suitors took out a two or three season deal at a rate thats suites both parties, then they might get the EXTRA exposure to make it more than worthwhile. Speculate to accumulate as the saying goes.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2026 10:32 amMaybe they did but it was dependent on us being in the EFL. Re: SO, farewell
I don’t know Paul Hornby personally but I get the impression he is a decent sort of bloke, a family man who runs an accountancy company and a football club. Quite a busy guy then who has now lost the CEO of that football club which has most likely put further demand on his time.
The alleged lack of a stadium sponsor and the fact that Paul wouldn’t attend the Barrow Rising stadium talks, sending staff members instead, seems to me that he is perhaps spreading himself too thin and maybe needs to delegate more. The next question would be is there anyone he can delegate to?

Succession planning isn't Hornby's strength.blue blue boy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2026 10:22 am Trying not to be overly negative but surely we should have had a replacement lined up before the deal came to an end. Bit late in the day to be asking for expressions of interest now isn't it?

Interesting interview with Rickie Wallbank where he talks about the sponsorship of the stadium and the fact they had a couple of interested parties but it was dependant on us still being in the EFL. Link below.

Re: SO, farewell
Shows how much the loss of our league status cost us.
We have to go straight back up and part of that promotion should also include a run in the FA Cup and hopefully play a Premier League team to bring in money and raise our profile.
The healing for last seasons capitulation will only begin when some of the dross is got rid off.

With the world cup around the corner, I thought the club may have been looking into hosting England World Cup watch parties. Get a big screen in the Crossbar, food etc, group table bookings. Not a mention for this.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 5:34 pm Interesting interview with Rickie Wallbank where he talks about the sponsorship of the stadium and the fact they had a couple of interested parties but it was dependant on us still being in the EFL. "To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.
Re: SO, farewell
CEO The most senior role at any club reporting to the board directly, but no sign of any succession planning to Iain Wood as of yet. Not sure who runs the day to day now.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2026 9:09 pm I don’t know Paul Hornby personally but I get the impression he is a decent sort of bloke, a family man who runs an accountancy company and a football club.
