Charlie McCann Departs

Barrow AFC can today confirm the departure of midfielder Charlie McCann, who joins Cheltenham Town for a permanent transfer.

Charlie joined the club last summer and amassed 8 goals and assists for the Bluebirds across 38 appearances in all competitions across the 2025/26 season. He departs Holker Street with everyone's best wishes for the future.

Speaking on McCann's departure, Adam Murray said: "It is unfortunate that we have lost Charlie but he stated early that he wanted to stay in the EFL. We tried to keep him here and he has been very professional throughout the process. Ultimately he had his eyes set elsewhere. It's important that for whatever the reason, the squad is built around people that want success for our football club. We’ve got a good deal for Charlie and we wish him all the best for the future."

Would have liked to keep him but knew this was one of the players that would get snapped up

I think £450k is about right.

Well worth cashing in on

That to me suggests anything from £50k to £75k hopefully a sell on clause too

Agreed but we've lost much better midfield players recently. Spence, Campbell and Gotts to name just 3.

6 figures but no where near hendoblues assessment

I’d love a pint of what he’s been having

That sounds fair imo
Nobody in league two and very few in league one pay the transfer fees at the level hendoblues stated😏

Sounds like decent business for the club.

You appear to have typed four hundred and fifty thousand pounds. It’s a good fee but let’s not get silly

Performances seemed to tail off in the second half of the season. Did he give up or did the general malaise get to him?
We will follow the soccer, over land and sea...
