Brilliant post 100% agree.pjdaly wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 11:05 amMall, I think you're being a tad premature with knocking people because just a few short weeks ago we were genuinely very poor and you could perhaps half-understand why people might go missing (even though we don't like to see it happen). It takes time for the message to filter through that you could go round the corner now and think you've been watching Jairzinho, Gerson, Tostao, Pele and Rivelino destroying the opposition. That's what it seemed like in the second half last night. It was so impressive that even our resident satirist, Leo, is unable to stretch irony to the point of posting "Murray out" after that showing.mall wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 12:16 am Big gaps on the popular side tongiht while the team put in a sterling performance and worked their nuts off for a well deserved victory.
Adam Murray praises the supporters regularly, and the ones that get off their arses deserve that praise, but he must realise deep down that the attendances are well below what the club merits.
If I was Mr Hornby I would throw the towel in.
Barrow public are shite. All they are interested in is pubbing and sitting in front of the TV.
However, Mall, the sadness is that, even if we continue as we did in the second half last night, the points you make will still hold true in weeks and months to come . . . people staying away, sitting in front of the TV, pubbing it during the match, Mr Hornby shaking his head wondering what else he can do, attendances still lower than performances merit.
Therein lies the real tragedy; nothing but nothing will get some glory-bandwagon-jumping-football-followers to go down the street to get to The Street. I'm thinking of putting a bill before parliament that bans anyone from supporting a pro-club other than the one they were born nearest to. That would stop the ego-by-proxy types from parading around Dalton Road in their "big club" shirts, trying to have us believe that in some small way they are smart/cool/partly responsible for helping the Man City's (?????), Liverpool's, Man Utd's accumulate silverware . . . and then when these teams go a season or two without a trophy (poor luvs) we are meant to believe that they are the most loyal fans in the country for sticking with them. I'm not sure whether to be sick or laugh . . .
(P.S. Nige, it was well worth the pounds, shillings and pence . . . . .)

Re: Barrow v Scunthorpe match thread
A positive outlook breeds positivity and negativity brings nearly everyone down with it.
We are still very much a work in progress and with some way to go yet but the progress and direction the club is making is clear for all to see.
The potential for this team is there for all of us to observe we just need to open our eyes to it and ignore the white noise in the background.

Re: Barrow v Scunthorpe match thread
Second half we were relentless.
The pressing, the aggression and willing to win every ball was just great to watch.
Work rate wise, last night it looked like we had 4 or 5 John Gordons on the pitch
On top of all this, we showed some real technical quality last night. Not enjoyed a game like that in such a long time.

Re attendances: You could say we’ve increased our average attendance compared with last time at this level by 500+
If you think back to the covid curtailment season we’d just started enjoying a few 3k+ crowds (with very few away fans). That’s what winning football matches brings. We will get there and enjoy 3k+ crowds again if we keep on winning. There’s a good connection growing between this team and fans and it’s great to see the positive vibes from players and fans at the end of the game. We’ll get there with crowds.

This is the closest way of playing football that likens itself to Barrow and its people I have seen in many a year.
They are now standing up to other teams and roughing them up taking no rubbish and then last night adding the flair and merciless attacking streak.
Long may it continue

Great nite at Fortress Holker Street. It's been some time in coming but we look as though we've recruited well.
Re: the attendance.
We need a new stadium It's as simple as that. York doubled their attendances once they moved. This money slushing around the town development could at least be enquired about couldn't it?

Mullholland isn’t doing anything of the sort. The attendance last night was spoken about in this thread he is simply pointing out how in his opinion they could be improvedbehind the goals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2026 3:16 pm Let's not start we need a new ground and stick with the post title, great win last night and on to Saturday

Re: Barrow v Scunthorpe match thread
Don't want to take anything away from a solid team performance but we’ve got to watch this card count. Picking up two yellows inside the first 10 mins and Kalambayi having to play 85 mins on a yellow was risky.
